Chapter 4 by Jeriah
What will it be?
Leg it
Looking down at herself, with the distant flashlight and her own cellphone illuminating her scarsely dressed body, Stacie finally makes the rather ill-considered decision to hide rather than to wait for or approach her presumed rescuer.
Grabbing her bag, she quickly round the tree she's been leaning against and then continue deeper into the forest towards another big tree that seem to make for a better hiding spot. Before reaching it however, she suddenly stumble on a thick root hidden in the undergrowth that send her sprawling to the ground with arms flailing and a loud yelp escaping her lips.
Dropping her cellphone in the fall, the young volleyball-captain suddenly find herself in complete darkness and face down in the wet grass and thick vegetation, struggling to get up while at the same time trying to locate her bag and phone.
The flashlight up on the path gives her a little light, but not enough to help her find her things, and as it comes closer she also get increasingly afraid that whoever carries it will spot her in this most embarrassing state and position.
Feverishly searching the ground while her heart beats like a drum inside her chest, she's torn between the primal wish to hide and the vague knowledge that if she neither find the phone nor accept any help, she'll truly be lost out here in the woods for the rest of the night.
Does she find her stuff, or is she discovered before that? Should she run again, or get herself together and call out for help?
Well?
