Chapter 17 by AnriAstora AnriAstora

What do you consume?

Leftover Pizza

We ended up having to use a couple of towels to soak up the mess, and another to dry ourselves. After managing to throw on some clothes we both went downstairs so you could find something to eat. After looking in the fridge all you could really see that you could make quickly was to reheat some of the pizza from last night, so you grabbed a couple of slices before putting it into the pizza oven.

“Pizza again?” Alcina asked while she looked into the fridge longingly.

“Yeah I am feeling lazy. Don’t want to take the time to make anything,” You admitted, as you watched her grab a gallon of milk outside the fridge, with wide staring eyes.

“...Shut up. This is also for you. You need to hydrate as well,” she said after grabbing two glasses from the drying rack.

“I didn’t say anything,” You replied, as she huffed and poured two tall glasses of milk.

“Your eyes say a lot so keep your peepers quiet,” She said as she handed you a glass. “And drink up!”

“Ok ok...Thank you. I appreciate that you're looking out for me,” You said as you took the glass.

“Your welcome,” She said.

A few minutes passed by as the smell of Italian herbs started to fill the kitchen and you figured the pizza was ready. About the same time your mother walked in, dressed in a long satin robe, with airy lace arms. You never really saw your mother wear anything of the sort for a long time. She was always in modest corporate attire. She had a very attractive face, platinum blonde hair like your own, and a figure that did not have you guess why your father married her. But the hair was the only feature that you seemed to keep that made you even remotely like her son. Your eyes were starkly different hers, a deep Scandinavian blue, and yours were unnatural, your blue pigment getting turned to gray then getting corrupted almost entirely by a golden amber except for scatterings of silver specks. One of the many things that tipped your mother off that something was very wrong about you. But you noticed something in your mothers eyes...was that surprise? What was she looking at? Alcina? And a soft blush as she turned to you with a very subtly flustered face.

“Hey honey...I guess you two are getting along? Is it ok for it to eat?” She asked.

“Yeah...She needs to take in fluids to keep her fully functioning,” You said, and you saw that she gave a small nod.

“Diary has always been a favorite of mine. And I think I actually like it more now,” Alcina said nonchalantly, and your mother gave a stiff nod.

“Well you two have...fun. I am just going to make myself a smoothie,” she said as she opened the freezer and got herself prepped. After taking the pizza out of the toaster oven you decided to show Alcina the dining room to give your mother some space. It was an intimate space for an absurdly large table, especially since we never have had enough guests to ever fill it. Sitting yourself down at one of the ends you started to wonder about your mom’s behavior. You expected her to be a bit more hostile, especially after last night. And she is not someone that just lets things go. But maybe you shouldn’t think too much about life's small gifts.

“What are you thinking about?” Alcina asked as she sipped her milk and we're watching you drift into space.

“Just thinking about my mom...she is being oddly polite and nice,” you said.

“Yeah I noticed that too. I wasn’t expecting whatever that was. Not going lie, your mom has weird vibes,” She said plainly.

“Maybe she is trying to extend an olive branch? Maybe you can try and be nice to her?” You said.

“Hmmm I don’t know about that one. Especially since she keeps calling me it. And like what would we talk about?... Hi I am your son’s sex toy let’s be f R i E n d S .” She said looking at you frustratingly.

“I don’t know...I just never saw her even try to be nice. And I am not sure what she is doing. But maybe she is realizing she also needs someone to talk to outside of work. And If I am with you all the time, and you're always on my side...then who is she going to vent to? I don’t know, I just know she is not happy and not the most sociable person in the world.” You said and as you started to ramble, the door suddenly opened from the kitchen, and silence flooded the room. Your mom looked lost in the doorway holding a smoothie and looking at the both of expectantly, with a frown. She went to sit next to me across from Alcina in the nearest chair.

“I am sorry. For my behavior yesterday. I've been very stressed lately, and I have realized that my actions lately have not been all that proper. So why don’t we try and get on the right foot ok? What is your name? I should have asked you that yesterday.” She slowly spoke.

“...My name is Al..Alcina. What is yours?” Alcina said with obvious weariness.

“Alcina is a pretty name. My name is Idunna. But you could call me Ms. Quelaag,” She said as she sipped her smoothie.

“Has my son been treating you well?” She asked blankly.

“Yes...We ordered some clothes for me this morning, and we had fun together,” Alcina said with a shrug. And your mother doesn’t seem surprised at all.

“When should they get here? I would offer some of my clothes in the meantime. But I am not sure if anything I have would fit your frame,” She asked.

“About a week right?” Alcina answered awkwardly looking at me.

“Yeah a week,” You said in confirmation. But the other things you ordered should come earlier than that.

“So who were you before...this?” Idunna asked Alcina.

“I...I was a TA for Mr.LaVerne,” She answered.

“Oh...Did you know Andros before? I asked because you too seem pretty close already,” She said.

“We knew each other fairly briefly. Saw each other around the halls, sometimes we have one on one sessions like I had with all the students about questions for their assignments. I knew he was a nice kid and good student. But we were not close,” She answered honestly.

“Is it a bit weird that he is your student?” She asked curiously.

“Not really. It’s not like I am a teacher anymore...I am just a Love Doll...his Love Doll. So I thought I might as well try and make the best of this situation. And besides, your son is very kind, and I genuinely have enjoyed being around him these past couple of days,” She said, making you blush slightly as your mother seemed surprised by her words.

“Well that’s good...if you both need help with anything don’t be afraid to ask me. I am sorry to cut this short but I have a call I have to get on soon,” She said standing up before walking out of the dining hall.

“That was unexpected…” you said after she left a bit shocked to say anything else.

“Yeah...but I guess this is a good thing...I guess you were right. She is trying to be nice. This was the most awkward conversation I ever had. And honestly I was more comfortable with the hostility but maybe we are heading in a good direction,” Alcina said looking shocked as well as she stared into her empty glass of milk.

“Anyway...What should we do now? We have like the whole day and tomorrow? And I finished up all my homework already,” you asked.

“What do you usually do?” Alcina asked.

“Play video and watch anime in the dark, covered in blankets and eating snacks like a gremlin,” you said sarcastically even though it was the truth. She gave out a surprised laugh, and you were glad she thought it was funny.

“Ohh well that is valid. We could watch some anime...and see where that takes us,” She said, giving you a smile.

What do you watch now? Do you have any other ideas? Hide and seek maybe?
