Lea adjusted the strap of her sundress in the mirror of the courthouse bathroom, the fabric clinging to her curves in the humid afternoon air. It was a simple ceremony - no frills, just the two of them in front of a judge, with Hildi and Sasha as witnesses, exchanging vows that felt more binding than any mountain proposal. Tori stood beside her earlier, looking sharp in a tailored blazer, collared shirt, with dress jeans, her short hair slicked back, green eyes locked on Lea like she was the only person in the room. "I do," they'd said, rings sliding onto fingers already marked by that cliffside diamond. Now, as the sun dipped toward evening, they headed to the restaurant Lea had arranged - a cozy Italian spot with exposed brick walls and long communal tables.

The dinner crowd was a mix that made the night hum with unexpected energy. Lea's side of the family brought the heterosexual types. Tori's lesbian crew balanced it out - Hildi and Sasha, her lesbian teammates, friends, and a handful of straights from Lea's old life who nodded along, toasting without batting an eye. The air buzzed with laughter, forks clinking against plates of pasta and tiramisu, stories overlapping in a way that felt raw and real. No one dominated; it was just people, loving them in their varied ways. Lea squeezed Tori's hand under the table, the new band on her finger a constant reminder, warm against her skin.

By the time they piled into the car for the drive to the airport the next morning, exhaustion mixed with a low-grade thrill.

During the honeymoon flight to the Caribbean, Lea locked her arm around Tori, gave her a soft, delicate kiss on the cheek, then laid her head on her shoulder. Softly, lea said "Tori my love, I'm your wife now. Do you want to be my wife, or my husband?" Tori sat motionless, not expecting the question, realizing the importance of its meaning, and how to respond. "I..... I.... don't know" Tori replied. "I haven't thought about it. What do you think?" "What's important is what you think and how you feel darling" Lea said. After a long pause, Lea said "I think you want to be my husband." Tori's blank look turned into a smile. She kissed Lea softly on the lips, then leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes.

Upon landing, a bus, then boat took them and other guests to an adults only beach resort where palm trees swayed against turquoise water. The lobby was open-air, fans whirring overhead, the scent of salt and coconut lotion thick in the humid breeze. Lea approached the front desk, her flip-flops slapping against the tiled floor, a grin tugging at her lips as she signed the register. In bold, looping script, she wrote "Mr. and Mrs. Tori Watts." The clerk barely glanced, but Lea turned the book around, sliding it toward Tori with a wink.

Tori leaned over the counter, her eyes scanning the page, and a slow smile spread across her face, genuine, the kind that crinkled the corners of her eyes. "Mr. and Mrs.," she repeated, voice low and teasing, pulling Lea in for a quick kiss. "Feels official now." They grabbed their keys and headed to the suite, bags thumping against the door as they stepped inside. The room overlooked the beach, waves crashing faintly through the open balcony doors, but they didn't unpack. Instead, they collapsed onto the king bed, limbs tangling in a lazy heap, the weight of the last twenty-four hours settling in. Sleep came fast, bodies pressed close, the AC humming them into dreams.

The next day dawned bright, the sun already baking the sand by mid-morning. They claimed lounge chairs on the beach, the resort's stretch of white shore dotted with other couples, but their spot felt private enough, tucked under a thatched umbrella. Lea slathered sunscreen on her legs, the lotion slick and cool, while Tori flipped through a paperback she'd packed. Lea wore a black bikini that hugged her hips, the top barely containing her breasts, her skin already taking on a light tan. Tori opted for board shorts and a tank, her athletic build on display, muscles flexing as she adjusted the chair.

Lea settled back, sunglasses perched on her nose, watching the waves roll in. The conversation from dinner lingered in her mind, the easy mix of everyone, no judgments, just support. It made her feel bold, ready to lay out what she'd been mulling over since the proposal. "Hey," she said, turning to Tori, her voice casual but edged with intent. "I'm changing my name. To Watts. Officially."

Tori lowered her book, surprise flickering across her face. She sat up, propping on one elbow, the sun catching the sweat beading on her. "Wait, really? I didn't expect that from you." Her tone was warm, pleased, like she'd just unwrapped a gift she hadn't asked for. Lea had always been independent, tied to her old life in ways that made Tori cautious about pushing. But this? It felt like a bridge.

Lea reached over, tracing a finger along Tori's arm, the touch light but deliberate. "There's a reason babe. And it's tied to that second bedroom in the condo." She paused, letting the words hang as Tori's brow furrowed.

"We have it for guests, the office setup, and your gym obsession," Tori said, smirking, but her eyes searched Lea's face.

Lea leaned in closer, her bikini top brushing Tori's side, voice dropping to a murmur that cut through the distant chatter of beachgoers. "It's going to be a nursery. We're starting a family. Together." The words spilled out steady, no hesitation, her hand finding Tori's and squeezing. She'd thought about it during those quiet nights in their condo, the second bedroom, imagining cribs instead of weights. The divorce money, the stability, they could make it work. Adoption, maybe, or whatever path felt right. But saying it aloud, under the Caribbean sun, made it real.

Tori's breath hitched, her grip tightening. For a second, she just stared, processing, then pulled Lea into a hug that knocked her sunglasses askew. "Lea. A family? Together?" Her voice cracked a little, tears welled in her eyes, emotion raw, burying her face in Lea's neck. "Oh Lea, that's so beautiful, I'd love that. Starting a family with you, I love you so much." They kissed then, slow and deep, tongues sliding together with the salt of the sea air, hands roaming over sun-warmed skin. The beach fading around them.

Just then, a server appeared. "Hello folks, I'm Lisa. May I get you something to drink or eat?" "Oh, thank you," Lea said, "I'll have a Pina Colada. And my for my husband..............honey, what would you like?"
