Lauren comforts Emily

Now alone, Lauren undid Emily’s handcuffs, and Emily lets out sobs. Lauren and Emily laid down on the bed as Lauren comforted Emily as best she could. “Emily, please,” she whispered. “It’s okay.”

“I just... can’t believe my mom did that,” Emily said. “I know she apologized, but... I just... I just don’t know...”

“Let’s not think about that,” Lauren said. “Let me distract you.”

“I don’t know if I want you to,” Emily said. “ i feel like I need to address this. I mean my mom’s always been strict, and I don’t hate her for that, but to propose for us to never see each other?”

“That was definitely too far,” Lauren agreed. “But she’s also your mom. My mom’s also harsh sometimes. She made me go to school in my old bathing suit and also exposed my secret in front of everyone. And at the time of course I hated her for it, but now... I’m just saying maybe don’t give up on your mom quite yet. After all, she did give in. Which means she can change.”

“I guess you’re right,” Emily said. “But still, I just... I feel like crying.”

“It’s okay to do that too. I’m here for you, Emily. I’m not going anywhere,” Lauren said, kissing Emily’s forehead.

Emily rested her head on Lauren’s shoulder and snuggled close to her as Lauren wrapped her arms around Emily, holding her closely.
