Lauren's guardian

As Martha led the newly dressed Lauren back to the lobby, Janet was just leaving another office. Janet looked over to Lauren and couldn’t help but smile at her new outfit, causing the diapered woman to blush and hide her face behind her hands; not realizing that she caused the shirt to ride up and expose her diaper again.

“Martha, can I talk to you for a bit?” Janet asked.

“Certainty.” Martha said, setting Lauren down on a nearby chair before walking up to her friend and coworker.

Lauren sat there as she watched the two policewomen talk with one another, not really paying attention to what they were saying. That’s when Lauren noticed something; Martha had sat her down right next to the entrance! If Lauren was careful, she could sneak out and make a run for her apartment. Lauren had just started to get up when she looked up and saw Martha walking towards her. Lauren sighed as she sat back down. So much for THAT plan.

“Okay Lauren, I’ve got some good news and I’ve got some bad news.” Martha said gently, kneeling down to put a hand on Lauren’s shoulder. “The bad news is that we haven’t found your family yet. In fact, there’s no trace of a Smith family currently living in this town. Don’t worry, though, we’re still keeping an eye out and are alerting all precincts on the East Coast to do the same until we find them. Until then, you need a place to stay.”

Lauren sighed. Of course they figured out there was no Smith family living in this small town. On the bright side, it meant no one actually knew who she was. Although, she wasn’t sure that she liked the sound of being fostered until they “found her parents”. She almost considered just telling them that she was an adult and explain how she got into this situation; after all, they seemed like nice people.

“Now the good news.” Martha continued with a smile on her face. “The good news is that, until we find them, you get to stay with me! Isn’t that exciting?!”

Lauren went wide eyed as she gasped in horror. How was that good news?! She was going to be left in charge of a strange woman that she had never met as if she were a child! THAT’S IT! I am telling them who I am and explaining this whole stupid mess right now! Lauren thought angrily. And hopefully get Jessie arrested in the process!

However, the more Lauren thought about it, the more she realized that that would probably not be a good idea. Yes, Janet and Martha were nice people, but they were also police Officers! If she told them that she was a twenty-five year old woman, she would probably end up arrested herself; and that was assuming that they even believed her! And even if they didn’t, they would most likely look up her records. And if they found those, that would certainly have them put her behind bars! Or worse, they might call Lauren’s mother, Lydia; and if they did that…Lauren didn’t want to think about it.

Lauren gulped as she had to decide which of the humiliating options to choose: Should she tell them the truth, or continue to pretend to be a little girl.
