Chapter 37 by Almax Almax

It takes you a little bit to find your next classroom, but you pull it off.

Last class of the week!

You reach the classroom, eventually, and make your way over to your usual desk. Most of the rest of your class is here already, so you're just waiting on the teacher now. But that's alright! It gives you time to decompress and lose all of that stress you've had all day that you don't need to worry about anymore.

This classroom's actually pretty cool. The desks in the middle of the room are just like normal, and so's the teacher's table-desk at the front, but around the edges of the room are a bunch of working tables and glass-doored cupboards. In the cupboards there's all sorts of coloured bottles and medical tools and stuff, even more basic things like bandage wrap, but also some metal thingies that you don't recognise at all!

{if Irrelevant3 == True}So..... what's gonna happen here, then? This is First Aid class, and your teacher for that is Nurse Riley, but you just creamed her. What's gonna happen in here now?{else}So, you whisper a question over to Miranda at the desk next to you, and it turns out that this is gonna be First Aid class. All of that stuff makes sense, then! Who teaches First Aid here? Hopefully it's not too full-on, it sounds like it might be a lot to take in.....{endif}

A few minutes after the second bell, you're still in a classroom without a teacher. Delilah and Jace have started chatting in that usual buzz, Miranda's scribbling formulas and ideas down into a workbook (and keeps shooting glances up at the cupboards like she wants to take some of the equipment out, but she never does it), Lexi's unfolded a super creased and foodstained piece of paper and is making little changes to it by crossing parts out and adding to it. You ask her what it is, and she says it's sheet music for something, so that sounds pretty cool. At one point, Cameron got up from his desk and started to do some pushups, but then Delilah made a snide comment about it so he got embarrassed and went behind one of the tables to do them, but then she made another comment so now he's just sitting back at his desk all red in the face and staring downwards. Now Lexi's folded away the sheet music again and is doing pushups right next to Delilah's desk in protest. She gets through, like, forty before she gets tired. Which is impressive, but it also makes for less than a minute of protesting. Anyway, Cameron seems to really appreciate the support.

You wish you had something to do while you waited. But then, fourteen minutes after the second bell, somebody finally stumbles through the classroom door.

It's Nurse Riley.{if Irrelevant3 == True}{else} Wait, is she your First Aid teacher?!{endif} She's walking on heavy legs, but eventually drags herself up to the front of the classroom where she stands all quiet and blushing, looking across your classroom for their attention.

"s-sorry I'm late, class...." She says in a quiet, shy voice. Every now and then when she's talking, her eyes dart over to your desk, and then away again all embarrassed. "I had s-something happen to.... b-but I'm all alright now!"

She puts on a smile, which you don't buy, but it's still pretty warm.

She introduces herself to the rest of the class, and stammers her way through an explanation that she didn't want to hit you all with too much work on the last period for the weekend, so she wanted to do something fun this class instead. Every now and then, she says the wrong word, then stammers out an apology and really slowly works her way back to the topic. As she speaks, her thighs rub against each other softly behind her desk, slowly shifting her weight from one hip to the other.

It's a pretty embarrassing display, and you feel pretty bad for putting her in this spot, but eventually she works her way through it. She hands each of you a mannequin arm and a roll of bandage wrap, giving you yours last and turning her head away as it goes bright red, then shuffles back over to the front.

Slowly, and with frequent mistakes, she runs you all through how to properly apply a bandage to a basic wound. It's slow going and sometimes she's a bit too quiet to hear, especially when Delilah starts openly talking to Jace at full volume. Nurse Riley tries to control the classroom, but she can't, and in the end you can only get back to work because Jace tells Delilah to hold off on the conversation until class is done. Delilah shoots you a lot of dirty looks all class as well, for some reason.

Eventually, you've all just about got your head around bandaging wounds, when the bell rings to signal the end of the day. Well, you didn't learn much at all this class, but at least you got to sit back in your chair and relax a bit. Nurse Riley quietly dismisses you all with a whispered goodbye, wishing you all a good weekend, as you and your classmates all pick up your bags and prepare to leave room.

You can almost TASTE the weekend!
