Chapter 4

What´s next?
Kim and Harako do a delivery
“Let’s recap. The boss man wants us to deliver this magical bell to a hidden dwarf smithy and then bring back a dragon egg, or some such nonsense…” Kim recapped to her ghost partner Harako.
Kim was a perky woman currently working to pay off her debt to the owner of the very peculiar castle she was on. She had a chestnut ponytail, colorful red lips, a cute round face, and green eyes. Accompanying Kim was Harako, a pale and willowy spirit with long hair the color of midnight that half obstructed her pretty face.
The duo was standing in an empty hallway filled to the brim with all kinds of doors, the one in front of them was metallic and rusty. Both women were only clad in some towels that they “borrowed” from the baths.
Kim raised the little golden bell in her hand, it hadn’t stopped ringing ever since she got it. “…And the only way to reach his house is by crossing a series of portals across New York City, the Bug Realm and then finally the Bridge of Laughter.”
“…Security is very important for the old dwarf.”
Kim sighed. “Well, we had worse jobs. Let’s do this.” She opened the door and entered a dingy alleyway. The place was dark and empty, but you could still hear the honking of the cars and the rumbling of crowds, the ever-present bustle of the big city.
The coast was clear, Kim tiptoed and crouched behind a garbage can. Her hands were busy keeping her towel in place as the wind was howling strong that day. She reached an intersection. While the alleyway stretched in front of her, the street was visible at her sides. “…Portal is across that door at the end of the alley.”
Kim bit her lip. A traffic jam was in full effect. Too many people would see her in the time it took to cross the opening. And no magical monsters or creatures either, those were her kind. Humans! It would be so much worse to be seen by them.
Well, what was she afraid of? For once, she was completely decent! Sure, she looked odd in her towel, but not enough to warrant anything more than a passing side-glance. “Right, let’s go!” Kim stood up and tried to take a step, but a powerful gust stopped her on her tracks. Her towel freely fluttered about until it was carried away to the skies. “Noooo! Stupid wind!”
“…Damnit!”
And just like that, Kim had lost her courage. She sank behind the trashcan. “Well, now we can’t cross!”
“ …A job is a job …We have to deliver this bell.” Kim looked back and stifled a giggle, Harako’s windy hair always looked funny. She looked like a pale naked troll doll. The ghost noticed Kim’s amusement and willed her hair back down. “…Besides …I see another way…”
Harako disappeared and re-emerged from a puddle at the end of the alleyway, right next to the door they had to go. The ghost gestured at Kim to follow. “Yeah, sure. Just leave me to the wolves why don’t you!”
Kim had to cross and finish her job, but she rather not get caught doing anything in her birthday suit. She had more than her fair share of embarrassing incidents already, thank you very much. Surprisingly, it didn’t get easier the more it happened.
Maybe she could cover with something else? But what-“ Argh!” Something collided with Kim’s face at full speed. It was soft and smelled like ink. “Is this a newspaper? Yes! Thanks, wind! We are even now.”
Folding the paper around her body, Kim steeled herself for another run. “All right Kimmy, you can do this.” The paper kept her breasts and sex hidden, if barely, but Kim’s lovely bottom was still plain to see.
Kim took a deep breath and broke into a sprint. Her breasts were stopped from swinging by the paper above them, but the damned bell kept jingling with each step, calling attention to the crazy woman wearing a newspaper. Kim heard a car honk and pushed her legs to run faster.
Another car honked. Kim closed her eyes, not even wanting to know how many people were seeing her perfectly cute bum. Too bad she was also unable to see the bump on the ground.
Kim tripped and fell onto a puddle with her butt sticking in the air. She painstakingly got up and looked at her empty hands. “No, no, no! Come on, It was a gift from the wind!” The paper, her only cover, had turned to useless mush. In a fit of anger, Kim punched the surface of the water. “Now what?!”
“Haha, doing the laundry miss?”
“Talk about drive-by entertainment.”
“See Stacy? Now that’s a loser.”
“Now I run! Eek!” Kim’s fall didn’t go unnoticed. With the laughter of the street ringing in her ear, she sprinted next to Harako, grabbed her by the arm, and dragged her across the door.
Kim stopped running on the other side to catch her breath. She cringed. That had been bad, but at least she was alone now ...with the exception of the ghost, but she barely counted.
The wooden door dropped them in the middle of a jungle. Dense bushes and tall flowers surrounded the two women. Everything seemed giant in comparison to the two. Well, when you run around starkers, you always feel a bit small by default, but the jungle certainly exuberated the feeling.
“The Bug Realm. I hate this place. It’s so humid, hot and there are disgusting crawlies everywhere!”
“… At least it’s better than the Realm That Feels 10 Degrees Colder Than It Actually Is.”
“ Oh, yeah. And better than the Realm Where Everything has Eyes and the lair of the Kraken King too.” Kim shuddered at the thought. “Ugh. So many tentacles. Why are octopus so grabby anyway?!”
“ …Who knows. …Let’s go.”
“No!” Kim pouted and crossed her arms over her round breasts. “I’m not going anywhere until I have something to cover myself with!”
The ghost sighed. “…The sooner we are done the better …Come on, I’m naked too.”
“It’s not the same. You always use your weird powers to hide or run away while I’m stuck in the thick of it! It is so unfair! I refuse to move until you bring me something to cover myself.” Kim sat on the ground to emphasize her point.
Does Harako go looking for something to wear?
