Kate Sinclair

My name is Katherine Ellen Sinclair but nobody's called me that in years. Even Mom calls me Kate unless she's really mad at me.

I'm twenty-four and the middle kid out of six. There's Brad, the oldest at twenty-nine, married now with his first kid on the way and moving up the corporate ladder.

Rosa, two years older than me and my best friend. She's the one who explained my first period to me and held my hair the first time I got drunk and spent the night with my head down the toilet.

The twins Lisa and Kelly, nineteen and no longer quite the constant tornado of annoying that they'd been when we were kids. These days they are more interested in boys and fashion than pranks and ponies but that doesn't mean they can't still drive us all crazy sometimes.

Finally, there's Danny, the baby of the family, just turned eighteen and starting to realize what effect his broad shoulders and blue eyes can have on the girls.

So, the six of us plus mom and dad made for a crowded house growing up but we were happy. Even now that most of us have our own places and lives we all try to get together every Sunday for a family meal.
