Just a minor distraction

Master Lastran, magician of the ninth order, and Head Wizard of the College of Light Shadow was sitting in the stody of his private tower, when he sensed a sudden tremble of the fabric of magic around him. As quickly as the ripple had emerged it was gone again. Not a man to take any chances in magic affairs, he immediately took a mental scan of the college's arcane security measures. All primary wards were properly in place and the arcane web of defense was unbreached. No alarms rang, and if some magic spell had misfired in the labs a magical sending would have arrived at his office by now. Frowning, Master Lastran sat back on his chair. Maybe he should investigate this strange ripple of arcane power, but then again - he looked down at the paperwork in front of him - this damned administrational work had to be done until the end of the week.

In classroom Noxos, Lady E'fandriel felt a cold shiver shoot through her spine. She was just lecturing a handful of lower grade students on the secondary laws of defense against the black arts, when she stopped dead in all of her movements. Slightly she tilted her head. Something was wrong. However, a quick scan of the major defense wards showed no signs of invasion. A little bit confused she arched a delicate eyebrow. Quickly she dispatched a mental message to Master Erewan, her assistant, and instructed him to perform a complete check of the arcane defense network of the college. Reasonably confident with her measures, she turned her attention back to her class. Master Erewan was competent and extremely assiduous. If anything was amiss, he would surely locate its origin and arrange for the appropriate steps to prevent the college from harm and danger.

In the kitchen section, the blonde servant maid named Winna suddenly felt an uncontrollable burst of passion in her loins. In classroom Abranagas, Aaralon was ineffectually listening to Master Urfon, one of the most boring teachers of the college. His thoughts were everywhere else but the words the tutor said. How could he break the demon's enchantments? What did she plan with Winna, the girl he loved? What had she in mind for him? He was weighing options, but none seemed to offer an acceptable solution. All of sudden, searing pain shot through his neck. The attack came so fast, he couldn't even scream. Panicking his fingers clamped around the talisman hanging on his chest. The sting of pain hurt that much, he almost lost consciousness. Before that could happen, the pain vanished. Aaralon quickly looked around. To his utmost relief, none of the other pupils had caught a glimpse of his sudden suffering. Slowly he eased his agitated breathing. 'Calm down' he said to himself. 'Calm down.' Aaralon's instincts warned him to tel anybody about this occurance. Gently he rubbed his neck. Everything seemed to be as it should. However, his mind raced. Something had just happened to Pursha. Was it good for him, or was it bad? He couldn't tell, yet he didn't dare to investigate. 'Just do as commanded' he scolded himself. And hope, that this terrible pain attack was just a singular event.
