Albus Was Born From Tracey, and Severus From Daphne. Daphne Had Managed To Rid Herself Of The Blood Curse, So Any Offspring Of Hers Were Free Of The Greengrass Family Blood Curse. Sadly, The Curse Had Resurfaced In Astoria, Making Daphne's Cure Useless. Marvolo Had Left The Albus Dumbledore School Of Higher Learning In Witchcraft and Wizardry A Year Ago, Feeling His Presence Was Undermining Ginny's Authority, Officially It Was Because He Needed A Balance Between His Auror Duties and Home Life. Unofficially Very Few Knew The Truth, He Still Paid Nurmengard No Less Than Six Visits A Year, But Ultimately They Lasted For The Most Part No More Than Two Days At Most.

He'd Decided Not To Pursue The Position Of Defence Against The Dark Arts Professor, Instead Finding Himself Heading Care of Magical Creatures and Transfiguration. Hagrid Felt Marvolo Was The Better Option, and Had Long Since Retired From Any Official Teaching. Marvolo Did Keep Hagrid On As His Assistant, Valuing His Experience and History With All Manner Of Creatures, Even Trusting Him To Take Care Of His Thunderbird and Phoenix. Marvolo Had Gone To Great Lengths To Restore Hagrid's Ability To Use Magic, Buying The Man A Brand New Wand From His Own Pocket. As For Being Transfiguration Professor, Professor McGonagall Was Unable To Continue As Both Head Of Gryffindor House and Transfiguration Professor, Due To Her Role As Headmistress. Marvolo Used A Time Turner To Make It Work, and Recommend ed Neville Longbottom For Professor Sprout's Position When She'd Announced Her Retirement, and Also Suggested Him For McGonagall's Old Position As Gryffindor Head Of House. Marvolo Had Kept Up The Collection Of Wands He'd Started Three Years Ago On His Wedding Night, Which Coincidentally Was The Current Day's Anniversary. This Was Why Daphne and Tracey Had Brought Albus and Severus. Professor Slughorn Still Headed Potions and Slytherin House.

It Only Recently Occurred To Him That Each House Had An Affinity For A Certain Subject. Hufflepuff's Had Herbology, Ravenclaw's Had Charms, Gryffindor's Had Transfiguration, and Slytherin's Potions. One Need Simply Look At Professor Sprout, Head Of Hufflepuff House and Herbology Professor, Professor Flitwick, Ravenclaw Head Of House and Professor Of Charms. But Both Slughorn and Snape Had Been Slytherin Heads Of House and Potions Professor, and Dumbledore and McGonagall Were Both Transfiguration Professors and Gryffindor Heads Of House.

In Spite Of Their Initially Rocky Relationship, Marvolo Was Quite Impressed With Neville's Growth As Both A Person and Wizard. An Auror Like Him, But Now Retired, Neville Was Out Of A Job, When Marvolo Had Suggested He Fill In Professor Sprouts Soon To Be Vacant Position. The Two Of Them Frequently Shared Butterbeer At The Three Broomsticks When Off Duty, They Never Really Talked, Just Enjoyed Their Butterbeers. Marvolo Himself Had Also Retired As An Auror, Preferring To Change Careers, He Was Now Internationally Famous, Because He Was Englands National Quidditch Team's Captain and Star Chaser. Marvolo Had Changed The Dynamics Of The Team Greatly, Brought In Younger Players, Some Of Whom He Knew, George Weasley Was A Substitute Beater, Oliver Wood Was The New Keeper, While Marcus Flint and Cassius Warrington Were Substitue Seeker and Seeker Respectively, In Spite Of The Fact That Both Cassius and Flint Were Former Chasers For Slytherin's Quidditch Team. He'd Also Brought On Former Gryffindor Chasers Alicia Spinnet and Angelina Johnson. When He Sacked Flint For Picking A Fight With Wood After Three Warnings At The Time, and Since Flint Was Already On His Second Strike, Marvolo Had **** But To Sack Him. So Out A Substitue Seeker and Harry Unlikely To Fill The Spot, Marvolo Had Reached Out To Gemma Farley, Offering Her Friend Lysandra Yaxley The Role Of Substitue Seeker. Gemma Was Quite Happy To Accommodate Him, Since Her and Her Friends Were Not Allowed Into Slytherin's Quidditch Team Because Marcus Flint Was Just As Sexist (If Not More So), As He Was Stupid. Sadly Lysandra Declined, and Marvolo Was **** To Offer It To Terence Higgs, Who Also Declined, In The End Adrian Pucey Was Offered It and He'd Accepted

Either Way, He Watched As Albus and Severus Both Vied For His Attention. He'd Named Blaise As Albus's Godfather, While Nott Was Severus's Godfather. Marvolo Was In The Midst Of Handing The Boys Back To Their Mothers, When Storm and Ashe Flew In. "Well, My Two Favorite Birds, Bearing Gifts It Seems." Taking The Ministry Letter First, Marvolo Hasn't Even Opened It When His Hourglass Flips Itself. "Well, I'd Best Head To Care Of Magical Creatures, I Got Some Dragons For The Next Lesson." Says Marvolo. "Dragons?" Asks Tracey. "One Hungarian Horntail, Two Common Welsh Green Dragons, One Chinese Fireball, Three Peruvian Viper Tooth's, and Two Norwegian Ridgeback's, All Tamed By Me." Says Marvolo Proudly. "He'd Released A Manuscript Detailing His Studies On Dragon's and Became Particularly Knowledgeable On Horntail's and Fireball's, Something Of A Hobby Of His Was Raising Magical Creatures, He Had Multiple Nifflers, Murtlaps, Fire Crabs, Kneazles, Abraxan's, Hippogrifs, and Maintained A Small Sanctuary In Austria Not Too Far From Nurmengard For His Dragons. He Realised How Dangerous It Was Having Many Dragons At Hogwarts Of The More Dangerous Variety, But So Long As No One Did What Draco Did In Their Third Year Class Of Care Of Magical Creatures, It'd Be Fine.

Arriving At His Appointed Time, Specifically Half an Hour Before Class Began, Marvolo Began To Get His Grooming and Other Dragon Care Items Out. He Was In The Process Of Taking Inventory When Some Prefects Led By Headmistress McGonagall and Head Of Gryffindor House Neville Longbottom Arrive. "What? Couldn't Beat Me In Our First Year? So You Had To Grab Three Prefects From Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor As Well As The Headmistress For This Time?" Says A Cranky Marvolo, Because Their Arrival Before They Were Meant To Had Disrupted His Train Of Thought. "Professor Longbottom Has Something He'd Like To Say To You Professor Gaunt, If Your Quite Finished Adding To The Tension Naturally?" Asks McGonagall. "I'm Sorry, This Is The First Wedding Anniversary Of Mine When I Can't Spend Time With My Family Uninterrupted, Plus, I Wasn't Counting On Students Arriving Before I'd Finished My Class Inventory. Now I'll Need To Delay My Teaching Until I Can Complete It." Says an Apologetic Marvolo.

After Putting His Inventory List and Quill Down, Removing His Dragon Skin Gloves, and Feeding His Niffler and Bowtruckle, He Turns To Face Longbottom. ''Yes, Neville?'' Asks Marvolo. "Headmistress McGonagall Told Me It Was You Who Recommended Me For Herbology and Gryffindor Head Of House, I Wanted To Thank You." Says Neville. "Really McGonagall? It Wasn't Enough To Let Neville Keep His Opinion Of Me As It Was?" Asks A Frustrated Marvolo, Annoyed That McGonagall Didn't Heed His Request Of Keeping Neville Ignorant Of His Involvement In His Hiring. "Why Did You Want Me Ignorant?" Asks Neville. "I Don't Know, Truth Is With Harry and Ron Gone, Your The Last Of Old Gryffindor Guard That Faced Off With The Slytherin's and Me. Is It Wrong That I Wanted The Rivalry To Continue? Maybe, Maybe Not. But I Recommended You Because I Knew You Had What It Takes To Replace The Retiring Professor Sprout." Says Gaunt, and With That His Students Start Arriving. "Your A Good Man, Marvolo, Even If You Don't Show It." Says Neville, Holding His Hand. Marvolo Takes It, and Nods.
