Chapter 10 by SimonLF
What can Jasper even do now?
Jasper is too overwhelmed with shock to resist
Jasper couldn't believe it, a mixture of shock, fear and sheer disbelief stunned him to the point that he couldn't believe that this man's lips were now pressed against his, that his mustache were tickling his face, and what? He could feel the man's tongue in his mouth, firm and energetic! Through this he could hear applause and cheers flood the church. This was crazy, they actually thought Jasper had married the guy!
Jasper was getting out of here. No question, he was done.
As the long deep kiss gradually came to an end, the man moved away and Jasper turned to face down the aisle, practically blinded by the countless camera flashes. Through them, Jasper could see the double doors he'd entered the church by were now open.
The tang of the man's tongue on his echoed through his mind, but Jasper **** himself to ignore it. With at breath, and also trying to ignore those big men, he strode straight towards the doors.
It was chaotic, the cheers continued, the crowds seemed to reach out and touch him from the aisle, he heard "congratulations", "so happy for you" and even a "you're beautiful" between all the yells, the flashes continued; Jasper just kept skating forward, as fast as his heels would allow him.
Upon reaching the doors, he suddenly realised he was still holding the bouquet. Angry at both the crowd and this physical symbol of femininity, he launched the bouquet up and behind him into the church. The crowd suddenly started getting ecstatic, Jasper just walked on.
As his light adjusted to the bright sun, he could make out an big black limousine at the bottom of the church steps. Decorated with flowers, and with cans trailing behind it, Jasper had no illusion what it was there for. A smartly dressed chauffeur was even holding a door near the back of the car open in front of him.
Jasper wanted to give the limo a wide berth, but navigating the church steps in heels without tumbling and breaking his neck became his next immediate concern. He found he had to hold up parts of the wedding gown skirt to make sure they didn't interfere with his steps. After carefully making his way down the stone steps, he found his feet on slightly less stable gravel, and looked up. The chauffeur was still looking at him with a smile on his face, and he seemed to be indicating the door of the limo. Before Jasper could react he felt an arm around his waist and he found himself nose to nose with the man he'd just (gulp!) married.
"Steady on," he said, "there's plenty of time soon."
The man turned Jasper to see the huge crowd come out of the church doors. Coming down the steps, flooding to the left and right, Jasper and the man faced them side by side. There were photos and cheers and suddenly a rain of rose petals came down upon them.
"Thank you all for coming here," the man announced in a loud voice. "I know some of you think this is sudden, but when it's love, it's love!" More petals rained down, Jasper found himself trying to wave them away, stop them getting caught up in his mascaraed eyelashes.
The man continued "It is heart-warming to see everyone share the joy and love that Jasmine and I have found in finding eachother. We hope this is the first of many great memories that we'll share together."
Jasper stopped waving, and turned towards the man. Jasmine? What sort of reality did this guy live in?
The man turned towards Jasper too, and moved in for a kiss.
Oh no, Jasper wasn't going for this again. Even with their lips touching and the man's arm behind him, Jasper moved back, into the open limousine door and the limo itself. The moment the man's arm loosened, Jasper broke free and scrambled across the plush leather seats (in spite of the skirt/gown), and pulled the handle of the door on the opposite side.
It didn't open. Jasper yanked it several times more, flipping the locks on and off while doing so, but the door didn't budge. Child locks? Really? Jasper awkwardly rotated, and got himself sitting down on the the soft leather seats, facing the rest of the limo. The ruffles of the white dress seemed to push up around him and the veil had spun back into his vision again.
Looking to where he had come from, Jasper saw the man enter the limo from the same door. He landed on the seat beside Jasper, and with a pull he closed the door with a clamp, instantly dampening the sounds of the crowds outside.
Okay, Jasper wasn't doing this. Maybe there was another door on the far end of the limo? Looking forward towards the rest of the limo, he found it was surprisingly spacious with more leather seats, visible bottles of champagne in ice buckets, a minibar(?) and something that looked like a curved large sofa at the far end end. Jasper certainly wasn't used to this standard of living, coming from humble beginnings and finding that his actions tended to lead to more humility. He'd always yearned for this level of luxury, and his efforts to gain it had now borne fruit in the most perverse and unexpected way possible.
The man clasped Jasper's hand in his "My dear" he said. This brought Jasper back to the current moment, along with the crowds now seemingly pounding and slapping the outside of the limo with somewhat muffled cheers, and the engine starting up. Jasper tried to get up, but at that moment the limo pulled forward and unsteadily Jasper fell back into the seat.
The rattle of cans and the sounds of the crowd rose up from behind them. Jasper craned his neck and looked out the rear window, pulling the veil out of his delicate eyes as he did so. The crowd was still waving, the cans rattling, and the church seemed to gradually move away from them. In desperation Jasper slammed his partially loved hand against the rear window, but it held solid. He tried to call out but barely a whisper came out. "For the last time I'm not doing this!" he tried to yell, waving fanatically! The crowd just waved back. Slapping his hand against the window one more time, he paused he noticed the glaring big diamond ring that now sat square at the base of his ring finger. As some of the implications about this hit him, the crowd and the church pulled further and further away into the distance, until the limo finally turned a corner, and they were gone.
