Jan calls you into her office.

As you walk back to your desk, Jan sticks her head out of her office and calls your name. Uh oh. You give Hana a scared look. She just shrugs and flashes you a little smile. You change direction and walk towards the lions den, doing your best to be confident. The AMA should help you out, right?

Stepping inside the office, you say with a smile on your face, "Good morning, Miss Whetstone. How are you today?"

A bit caught off guard by your friendly tone, your boss responds, "I'm... fine... sit down, Frank."

You sit in the rather uncomfortable chair in front of her desk. Instead of sitting down, Jan leans against the desk and looks down on you. She's a tall and skinny woman. Today she's wearing some black dress pants and a white button down blouse. Her dark red hair is tied up. Glasses perch atop her nose. She's in her early 30's and is all business. Pretty much everyone in the office is scared of her. You smile up at her, trying to not look at the little red number floating above her head.

Sounding annoyed, she says, "So, Frank, where did you wander off to this morning?"

You notice that it's you who wandered off and not Hana. It was common knowledge that Jan heavily favored the females in the office.

"Well I've been a bit stressed so Hana and I decided to get some air. Thought it would help me focus for the rest of the day."

"You need a break after being here for 5 minutes?"

"Yes ma'am."

"You don't get paid to take breaks whenever you want."

You think carefully before continuing. A little flattery could really help you out here. Or maybe a fuck ton of flattery...

"Miss Whetstone, you keep this office humming like a finely tuned machine. You're great at your job. Truly. So, surely you must know that I pull more than my fair share of weight around here."

Her face appears to soften a tiny bit before saying, "Well you aren't today."

"The day is still young! I really do appreciate you working as hard as you do to keep us all in line. At my last job the leadership was totally incompetent. It sunk the entire company. What I love about working here for you is seeing what real leadership looks like. It's quite refreshing."

Maybe the AMA will make your over the top ass kissing more effective. Normally, it would be obvious and probably get you laughed out of the room but now it was worth a shot. Jan looks down at you with a slightly confused look on her face. You can almost see the app doing work inside her head.

"Thank you, Frank. Just... just get back to work."

Still beaming at her, you say, "You got it! Is there anything else that I can do for you?"

"No... that will be all."

As you exit her office, you glance up above Jan's head. The red 48 has been replaced by a red 46. 2 POINTS?!?!? Maybe some people were just going to be more difficult than others. You make a mental note to be really nice to Jan whenever you get the chance. Maybe she will actually like you by next year...
