What happens in the boutique?

Jake's worst nightmare

Jake, Alice, and Sally walked into the boutique. They entered a different section of the store than Jake had been in, where there were mannequins wearing formal dresses as well as tons of elegant feminine wear on hangers. Thankfully, they had not run into Sadie, but rather another woman who worked in this section. Maybe Sadie was off on Saturdays, Jake thought, feeling relieved.

"Hello! How can I help you?" The woman asked, in a customer friendly voice.

"Hi! We're here to try on dresses for our big formal next week." Sally said to the woman.

"All three of you?"

Sally let out a small giggle. "Well, it was mainly for the two of us," Sally said, gesturing to herself and Alice.

"I see, let's get you set up here."

Jake sat on a nearby bench and occupied himself with a game his phone, while the woman started taking measurements of the two girls. Nearly an hour passed, as the girls tried on various dresses, discussing how it would match their eyes, their shoes, their hair, etc. Eventually, Jake started getting quite bored. He slowly started to doze off on the bench.

"JAKEY!"

Jake suddenly awoke, to find the woman, Sally, and Alice all looking at him. All of them were smiling.

"Jakey, did you want to go next?" his sister asked.

"Wha...huh?" Jake asked, forgetting where he was for a moment.

"After me and Sally finished picking our dresses, we talked to the lady for you, and she says she's willing to help you pick out a dress for the dance!"

"Come on Jake, it'll be fun! Since when have you ever gotten an opportunity to look this pretty?"

No. Absolutely not. He had to draw the line here. Jake would never be caught dead wearing a big formal dress. The idea was so humiliating, he would never hear the end of it.

"Sure, let's do it." Damn it.

"Yay! Let's get your measurements!" Sally gleefully said.
