Jack wakes up with new clarity.

Jack rolled over.

There was a banging on his door. As the world came back into focus, he realized it was his mother.

"Damnit, Jack, open this door!"

"Hold on," he said. He stumbled out of bed and walked to his door, which was locked. Turning the knob, he opened the door slightly to see his angry mother.

"Are you dead or something? I've told you three times to get up and get ready for school!"
