Jean closed her eyes, and Ashley heard her voice again. "There."

"Can you hear me?" she tried to direct the words in her mind to the woman.

"Loud and clear. Try telling me something."

"I'm not a mutant." She waited, but Jean smiled.

"Yes you are." she said through their link. "And your power is to make people believe anything you say."

For a few seconds, Ashley froze, not thinking anything, even to herself, and then everything hit her at once, like a brick to the face. She could talk to someone, actually talk to her. Jean hugged her, drawing her in to that warm and gentle embrace. "It's okay, let it out." Ashley felt her eyes begin to water, and quietly cry into Jean's chest.

It took her a few minutes to regain composure. She realized that her face was against Jean's boobs, and pulled away. "Sorry," she said, and then remembered to think it instead. "I got your shirt dirty."

"Don't worry about it." Jean thought back, "I can sense your emotions, and you had a lot to deal with." Ashley looked at the beautiful redhead, who had helped her like this. She seemed like an angel.
