"Did he just offer me the promotion?" your father asks. "I think so," you reply, and relate to him how his boss seemed to almost interview you about the seriousness of your relationship. He grows a bit concerned when you tell him, and guides you over into a corner, where you can have some privacy.

"Look, this is great news, but it also... complicates things. I mean, it really does seem that you convinced him about your dedication towards me, but that also means that you can't just disappear. He'll want to meet you again, and my promotion will probably be contingent on our relationship. We need to do some work to establish Julie as an identity, and figure out how we're going to handle this. I think maybe it's best that you stay Julie for a little while longer than planned."
