Invitation

During an uneventful Saturday, Jodie's hypnotic trance of channel surfing was interrupted by a Skype notification on her computer.

Lazily, Jodie accepts, prompting the Skype window to enlarge showing Dr. Harper, her private Teacher.

"Hi, Jodie. I hope I didn't wake you." Jodie's current appearance could easily pass as someone who just recently got out of bed. Only shown from the neck up, Jodie had a slight bedhead, with portions of her hair desheveled.

"Dr. Harper, it's 12a.m., on a Saturday. What do you want?" Jodie asks.

"My Daughter's sweet sixteen birthday party is tomorrow, and I'd love for you to come." Jodie's face lights up as she smiles. "That sounds great, but you know that I'm not supposed to leave my room." There was a pause of confusion, before Dr. Harper answered.

"Jodie, have you been paying attention to what's happening around you? Dr. Dawkins leads the paranormal department. He has suggested that getting some fresh air is what you need."

Jodie pondered on the idea of being with people her own age. Seeing a smile stretch on Jodie's face made Dr. Harper smile. "I'll give Dr. Dawkins the directions were my Daughter will be, have fun tomorrow." "Thank you, I will. Bye."

Laying on her bed, Jodie actually, for once in her whole life, felt like a normal girl.
