Into The Shade

"What do you want?" you question out as you gulp in a giant sum of air. The expansion of your throat poking into the tip of the blade held against the back of your neck causing a tiny bit of discomfort followed by a droplet of blood down the back of your neck.

"When the sun sets tomorrow, the shade comes out." the feminine voice whispers.

You stay calm, not saying a word as you held your hands up away from your body. You surrender to the person behind you "I don't know what you mean?" you start "But tell me what you want and I can make it happen...think about that."

A soft chuckle exits behind your body as the hand on your shoulder grips tighter "When the sun sets tomorrow, the shade comes out." the soft whisper repeats.

You swallow hard, feeling the tip of the blade against your neck that is still in the proper position to end your life immediately "I don't...I don't know what you mean by that..." you try to pull away from the grip but they only hold tighter.

"When the sun begins to set, exit the city and hug the mountain at your left. Walk until the shade appears." the voice is so robotic and monotone. "Come alone or friends will die." the unknown person orders.

"Tomorrow?" you question "Alone..., sure." you grumble out. "I better be safe and don't you dare harm any of my friends." your body shutters and it's at that point you finally realize the blade wasn't at the back of your neck anymore and the hand wasn't resting on your shoulder.

Your head immediately turns around and nobody is within your sights. You scour the area trying your best to squint your eyes to see through the darkness. "The fuck..." you mumble out in confusion as your hand reaches up to cup behind your neck, feeling the slight dribble of blood telling you what you experienced was actually real.

"Darien?!?" A random Sicilian warrior turns the corner and notices you standing there with a stunned expression, "Are you okay?" she says as she gets closer.

"Yeah, yeah I'm okay." you nod at the Sunrider. "Just...just heading to the castle." you continue to ponder what just happened in your head as the Sunrider leaves you be.
