Inside Roberta

Roberta had known she was a lesbian pretty much since she had become sexually aware. She could specifically remember at age 13 being told by her mom that she would find a nice boy one day who would set her heart aflutter and sweep her off her feet. But it never happened. She felt nothing whenever she looked at guys that her sister and all of her friends noted as “hot” or “cute”. The indifference towards the male sex quickly became coupled with an appreciation of the female form and that was that.

It wasn’t easy, of course. Her father had no idea how to process that his eldest daughter played for the other team and was incredibly awkward about the whole thing. Her mother was worse, shouting and screaming about how Roberta had “betrayed” her and was denying her the chance at having grandchildren. It was turbulent and for those first few years she had to struggle with limited contact with her parents. Things had calmed down some once Sharon got hitched to her idiot husband and popped out a couple of grandkids for her parents to coo over, but the damage had been done and Roberta mostly lived an independent life.

Her dating life wasn’t ...great. Or rather it was, but not in the traditional Hallmark, lifelong partner kind of way. Girlfriends had come and gone, rarely lasting longer than a year. There was something about being tied down to a person that just didn’t appeal to her. She wanted to fuck, enjoy herself a bit and then move one to the next one. What was wrong with that? Roberta got what she wanted out of it and that was all that really mattered.

Though she loathed men and the way they pushed the heteronormative view, she secretly felt envious of them. A man could fuck around all he wanted, and he’d be called a bachelor. Roberta though, with her lifestyle and lack of long term partner was called a spinster and that absolutely infuriated her.

So when her idiot brother in law Jack had spat those words at her a few days prior she felt a flash of utter vitriol overcome her that was almost choking.

But rage hasn’t been the only thing.

There was no rational way to explain it, but in that moment of aggression she had felt…aroused? Turned on? She couldn’t say exactly, but the fact that these feelings were directed towards a man had confused her profoundly. She had gone almost half a century of life without any inclination whatsoever for men and this was cutting right through her core. She had decided a tactical retreat was the best option.

She had spent the next couple of days trying to process her feelings and wrap her head around the matter. Ultimately she had decided that the aggression of the moment had turned her on, and not the individual person. It made sense. She was a naturally dominate person, both in every day life and in the bedroom. How many times had she rang up a booty call and ground her dripping cunt in their face while she worked out her daily stress? Countless times. Being aggressive and competitive we’re naturally sexual to her, that’s all.

So, no, she hadn’t been aroused by Jack fucking Thompson, she had simply been overstressed and underfucked. It was confusion, wires that had been crossed, that was all.

Roberta was so confident in herself that she made it a point of returning to Sharon’s home a few days later.

Her sister had sat her down with a glass of wine and confided in her about how she had grown cold to her new lover and was thinking about trying again with Jack. Sharon made a point to call out how idiotic this would be given the man’s laundry list of character flaws. But for some reason her sister seemed intent on making a huge mistake.

Roberta was in the middle of explaining said flaws, his lack of ambition, his devotion to his dead end job, when the front door opened and the man in question walked into the living room…
