Indecision made his choice

Marius was seemingly locked in place as he watched Selenae leave. He struggled to come up with anything to say or do, confused by the moment. This is typically how their interactions have been of late, since that job she took that made her decide to retire. It was always a mess of confusion and frustration to try and talk with her.

But while Marius was locked in his own time, the world around him moved forward as it always does. Soon, Selenae was out of sight and whatever opportunity Marius had to keep her there and talking was gone. Even when she was out of sight, the Rune Blade contemplated in running after her.

But a warrior knows when something was a waste of time. He had his opportunity and it was now gone. This resulted in Marius to let out a long sigh and shake his head. When did and why did this became so complicated?

But oh well, a Rune Blade’s job is never done. He’s got things he has to do and she has her own responsibilities. There was no point in dwelling in all of this.

The meeting with the representative was as routine as always. The large room they resided within the castle was large and filled with many scrolls, times, and organized very well. There were desks everywhere as masked individuals with featureless masks with the symbol of the Inquisition on them manned each one.

Very familiar with the dealings with these...things, Marius doubted they were actually human as he rarely saw them outside of this room or without their masks, he just stuck with the routine.

He gave all relevant details about the job. The invasive monster he had to contend with, the Vampire, the ritual and its purpose, and the girl. He left out the detail about the meeting with the gods he had as he produced the pendant the girl’s soul was trapped in and how Execrism magic was used by the Vampire.

The bureaucrat hissed and recoiled at this, but managed to take the satchel it was in after recovering. It mentioned how they would make sure the item, and thus the soul, would be properly destroyed soon.

When their meeting was wrapping up, that was when the creature spoke out of place, “Rune Blade Marius...the Mistress has been here in her quarters for a few days, waiting for you. She has already been notified of your return. She called out to you by name to see her.”

Normally Marius would be surprised by this. But he was already told by the gods that this would happen. At least he could see why the Madame Inquisitor was interested in this woman that the gods have taken an interest in.
