"PARKER, you are FIRED!" you hear the shouting from behind the glass door, and try not to cower. Anne gives you a sympathetic smile, she has always been nice to you, but then that is the kind of woman J.J.J.´s secretary is, to everyone. "Get OUT of my ROOM, and my BUILDING!"

You see the shape moving closer to the glass door, and then another shout "And dont come back until I have a decent picture of Captain America! Captain America turns his back on Uncle Sam. That will be tomorrow´s headline." The door opens and the young photographer walks out. He is shaking his head slightly, more annoyed then cowered, or upset. As he walks in your direction you begin hearing an old song

Peter Parker´s cellphone seems to always be singing this music, over and over again, at least to your technopathic abilities. "Hi Yuna. Good luck with JJ, he isnt in a good mood" He says passingly, not paying you much of a second glance.

"JJJ, reporter Yuna wants to speak to you." Anne announces, to the immediate answer "Does she have my front page article? Captain America turned traitor? An expose on the so called heroes following him? "

"I don´t know sir. Should I ask?" Anne´s tone is very bland.

"Just send her in" is his final decision.

Ben Urich is also there; he is your quintessential role model. An awesome reporter that never stopped chasing a story. You absolutely loved his work exposing Norman Osborn as the green goblin. You were actually trying to build up your confidence to show him some of your work, but never quite managed it. It would have to be something... important.

"Well? don't waste my time, do you have it?" He puffs his cigar, billowing fire like a dragon in a Tolkien story. "I... am bringing my resignation letter, sir" you say meekly, betraying the countless times you rehearsed what to say. You places down at his table the column you wrote about your experience at the SHRA, to showcase how hard it was to 'come out of the closet' like that. You hold the folded letter in your trembling hands, and extend it to him. He stares daggers at you, the icy treatment pummeling your chest.

"I know the Daily Bungle´s stance on ... 'enhanced human'. I was at the SHRA this morning. I... " you look out of the window, and wonder how long it would take to reach the floor if you just jumped out of it.

"Well, are you spiderman?"

"What? no, of course not"

"That other terrorist. Spiderwoman?"

"No"

"Spider gall? Spider ninja? Spider strumpet?" his voice is more and more impatient

"I dont really wear a costume. I am just a technopath." JJJ frowns and turns to Ben, who is barely paying any attention to your exchange. "She can control machines." the reporter says. Your eyes widen as you see what he is holding. Your article!

"Well, so she is just wasting my time, and I don't have a front cover story. What did you say your name was?"

"Yuna Suikihime, sir"

"Yuna, you are FIRED!" you wince, this was the first time he ever fired you.

"JJ, take a look at this." He hands over your article, his tone is very neutral. Did you write something offensive there? You were actually trying to be wistful. Put a hopeful tone. Perhaps Ben liked it? you begin to smile when JJJ speaks up again

"This is crap." he proclaims, crushing what was left of your soul. You feel tears welling up in your eyes. And bile in your stomach. You wonder if you can build up the courage to say some hard truths to JJJ, and he continues "This isn't front page material, this is an editorial. Yuna, rewrite this so I can use this. 'A New Dawn' we will call it. I want statistics. I want quotations. I want pictures."

"We can use her SHRA card" Ben suggests, and before you can object JJJ jumps on the idea, "Perfect. Now what are the two of you still doing here? go!"

"Welcome to the pulse" Ben tells you, as the two of you hurry out.
