Chapter 79
by
Fantasy
What happens next?
In school again.
You let out a sigh of relief as you receive your biology test. It was what you felt was your weakest subject, but you still managed to get a near perfect score. Really, tutoring Emily and Megan was a good decision. In order to teach them properly, you had to review twice as much. You wonder how they are doing, how their tests are. You pray they did well, since they have to in order to keep playing soccer.
With this, all your midterm tests were a complete success. You wonder how low your scores have to be before getting kicked out, but as you think that, you feel the now familiar itch on your back. It doesn’t actually itch, but it does make your turn your head back slightly. There, you catch Olivia staring intently at you, then flinch and turn away as your eyes meet. Of course, you do the same.
This has been happening for a while now. None of them have even approached you, but since you sit in the middle of the classroom while Those Three sit at the back, you’ve caught them staring at you on more than one occasion. Yes, not just Olivia, but every now and then it’s Lilian or Jessica.
A part of you is mad that they look bashful when they turn away, but it sure beats being snarled at. Really, now it finally feels like you’re going to a normal school. Well, save for the fact there’s nothing but girls around you. Still, life is changing here. You even have plans with Emily and Megan to finally eat at the cafeteria, a decision made entirely by them after you admitted to never having its food.
So, when class ends, you ignore the itching sensation on your back and walk with a nervous step down the stairs of the second floor and towards the cafeteria. You stop right in front of the double doors, not knowing whether to go in or not. The girls didn’t say where to meet after all.
As you look through the windows on the double doors to see if you catch your girlfriends, you feel a finger tap your shoulder, making you flinch and yelp in an unmanly manner, eliciting laughter from the two girls you were looking for.
“What was that?” Emily laughs hysterically, holding her stomach.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” Megan says with a huge grin and whipping a tear out of her eye.
“Fine! Laugh all you want. I hope you brought your tests scores.” You reply with what you know it’s a petty comeback, making Emily grimace.
“Ouch. Sore loser.”
“Why? Not confident, Em?” Megan asks with a smug smile, putting her hands on her hips and thrusting her modest chest forward. Your eyes automatically move to it, then to Megan’s eyes to see her giving you a knowing look.
“It just… wasn’t what I hoped for. I should be fine, though. Hopefully sis will accept mostly Cs.” The blonde sighs as she pushes the door open with you and Megan following.
You’ve been here before. First at the start of the year, where you learned to avoid the place after having to put up with the constant murmuring around you and the food that was being thrown at you out of seemingly nowhere. After that only on occasion, when you needed to grab something from the vending machines.
The place is huge. It has a bright, beige tiled floor and ruby colored pillars and walls. There seem to be more than enough tables to accommodate every student. They are all black, though some are round and some are long and rectangular. Even now you see some empty tables, so finding a spot shouldn’t be hard.
As you stand in line to get your food, you still get odd looks from people, though very few of them are hostile. A girl that bumped into you even gave you a nonchalant “sorry”, which is more than you would’ve gotten a few weeks ago.
You got your meals, a nice looking stew with an incredible smell, a small salad with mixed vegetables, some fruit and a glass of juice, and you set off to look for a place to sit. After finding an empty round table and being amazed by how good the stew is, Megan asks you a question.
“So, have you decided when you’ll ask you-know-who out?” She asks casually, taking a sip of her juice.
Her question makes you pause for a moment. Of course, she’s talking about your English teacher. You and Emma talked to Emily and Megan about what they thought about you taking Mia on a date or two. As expected, they have no issue with it.
“I was thinking of asking her today after class.” You say with a sigh, resting your cheek on your hand. “I’ve been postponing it long enough, but whenever I think about it I get really nervous.”
“Really? You? Nervous about asking a girl out?” Emily chortles. “I would have thought you’d be over that already.” She gives you a teasing grin.
“Well apparently, I’m not.” You answer with an unamused look. You’d like to banter, but this isn’t really the place to do it. You guess that’s another point in favor of eating in the rooftop. “Besides, you have to admit this is a very special case.”
Megan nods. “I’ll say. Have you thought about where to take her?”
You groan at that question. How many hours upon hours have you pondered on that? It’s kind of stupid that, for a man with three girlfriends, you have close to no experience actually dating. Secret relationships suck!
“I was thinking somewhere like a museum. There’s one in town, right?” You ask.
“Yes. There’s an art museum dedicated to all local artists.” Megan says. “It’s mostly paintings, but there’re some sculptures and wooden carvings as well.”
“You really think she’ll like that?” Emily asks with an uncertain frown.
“Just because you wouldn’t doesn’t mean no one will. Besides, her taste might be more… mature than yours.” Megan tells her friend, giggling softly.
You keep talking with the girls, with them mostly teasing you about your date with Mia, though trying very carefully not to accidentally say anything that might reveal any of your many relationships.
It is very sudden when you see something that makes your blood run cold. As you look past Megan’s shoulder, you see at a distance four familiar figures.
Olivia.
Lilian.
Jessica.
And Katherine.
With Katherine holding her food tray, a wall behind her and the other three surrounding her, the situation screams danger. Did they find out she was the one who recorded everything? From this distance, you can’t hear anything or make out their facial expressions, but from her body language Katherine doesn’t look comfortable at all.
What do you do?
