In a World of Bone and Steel (Dishonored)

This world is one of rot and decay, people live and they die never knowing any true change in thier lives unless it is that of a new misfortune. Everyone in this world has a dagger pointed at thier back and another pointing at someone else's. Things like war, plague and poverty are the normal and the people of the world have grown accustomed to it and no one is above being treasonous or corrupt.

Of course the important question is when exactly your story begins.
