Chapter 4

What should he do?
Ignore the noise, go upstairs.
Dago shook his head with a grin, he figured someone was being a bit too loud about their recreational activities and decided to move on. He wandered up the stairs a bit further toward the women’s dorms. He really hadn’t ever been up here before, but it wasn’t too different from the boy’s dorm hallway. He spotted someone wandering toward the back of the hallway, someone with a big black sweater with the hood pulled up. Dago made himself heard and the person cautiously looked over their shoulder. Dago saw a flash of thick glass and assumed it was Zed.
“Hey!” Dago called out, but Zed turned away.
Dago hadn’t been seeing too much of his friend. He’d actually been avoiding him out of a sense of guilt. He did Marian a favor by making it so Zed couldn’t tell anyone about his immortality after he’d blabbed about it to Selene. Zed looked upset now and Dago couldn’t help but feel bad for the pathetic British man.
Dago jogged down the hallway to grab Zed’s shoulder and better catch his attention. Zed looked up at Dago with a bit of apprehension; it was obvious he’d been crying recently. Dago didn’t really blame him and if he thought about it, hadn’t seen much of him lately.
“Zed, what’s wrong? What are you doing up here?” Dago asked, trying not to sound too annoyed or too pushy.
“Faffing about, don’t worry about me,” he said, trying to brush Dago off.
