IR Day 10 - Trick their offense

Playing dirty is, well, dirty. So you decide to try the trick for better or worse. Even if you lose, you'll still have your honor.

You quickly try to brief the team and help them understand what needs to be done, but it's a lot to explain in the middle of the game. You and Lara do your best, then head back into the game and try to put it to work.

Green Team falls for it right away, allowing you an easy steal, but Lara isn't able to convert it into a point. After that, they don't fall for it again.

You play your heart out, but it's not enough. In the end, you lose by two. It's not the worst loss, but it's not great. You're glad that you stayed honest, but... you wanted to win.

You have to shower before getting on the busses that will take you away to wherever you're going. It's gloomy, but as you and your team come out in clean clothes, you're surprised to see Blue Team boarding another bus. They lost too? You aren't sure how to feel. You're sorry that Ingrid didn't win, but also kind of glad that you'll both be going to the same place. You definitely need some support, but she probably will too. You'll have to be the tough one...

You and the other girls sit on the bus as it leaves the Soccer Camp area, going onto a gravel road that you never noticed before. Two other busses are coming as well... one for each losing team.

You drive through the forest, but Lara notices something and looks out the window. You turn to look too. There's a sign up ahead. It's yellow, but it has words on it in big, friendly letters:

WELCOME TO

CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE

EST. 1935

"Another camp," Lara says.

"What?" You don't understand.

But in a minute the bus pulls up, and you see it all: it's a summer camp. The Soccer Camp is modern and pretty nice, even just the cabins and showers, but this place... it's a wreck. It looks like something from the early eighties.

But it's on the lake, which is pretty. There's a sand volleyball court, and a basketball court... no sign of soccer. Some cabins that are a lot like the ones at the Soccer Camp, just shittier.

The busses stop.

You all get off, finding four young women waiting for you wearing the shorts and t-shirts of camp counselors. They each have their name written on their t-shirts. Meg, Claudette, Nea, and Kate.

Meg is sporty and looks like a runner. Claudette is Black, very cute, and wears nerdy glasses. Nea looks grumpy and has a beanie on, but she'd probably be pretty if she smiled. Kate is obviously the hot one, with long, red hair and the look of a popular cheerleader.

Kate steps forward as all the losers gather around.

"Welcome," she says. "So you'll all be here until Monday morning. No drills or anything. No cameras. You're free to just relax. I guess the punishment part is that it's... you know." She turns and gestures at the camp. Yeah. The punishment is that it's not the Lodge.

And you had to give up your phone when you got on the bus. No phones, no air conditioning... probably no TVs. So there will be no creature comforts, but it might be very relaxing actually with no cameras and no social media pressure or anything.

You go into the cabin assigned to your team, finding it dusty, creaky, and kind of horrible... the beds squeak, and there's no privacy in the shower, which is supposed to be for six people but is just tiny.

The game is over, and nobody really wants to talk about it. Tiff isn't here. It's time to forget about soccer. You don't have your phone to talk to your family, so all you can think about is Ingrid.

You watch her at her table with Blue Team during dinner, which is... not the greatest food. She seems to be OK, but everyone is pretty subdued. They perk up a bit after the meal, when they're trying to use the remaining daylight at the lake. For once, watching girls change into swimsuits isn't enough to cheer you up.

You put on your own blue bikini and a wrap so everyone won't have to look at your bulge, then follow them down to the lake. If Ingrid isn't down there, you'll go visit her cabin. She may not want to hang out with you if she's taking the loss hard, but you at least want to check on her.

It turns out not to be a problem: she's already down at the lake, and her swimsuit does not disappoint. It's a bikini with red and white stripes. It's not very daring, but with a body like hers, everything automatically looks seductive.

She sees you and hurries over, bouncing hypnotically. Her beauty makes you forget all about the game.

She throws her arms around you for a soft, pillowy hug. She smells like flowery shampoo, and feels soft and warm. It's hot outside, but more warmth does not bother you. The hug goes on for a long minute, and it helps you let go of some of the tension. You finally draw back and look at her.

"Are you OK?" you ask.

"Yes," she replies. It's obviously not totally true, but she's not a mess. She's not crying.

You kiss her on the mouth. It doesn't matter if your teams can see you... nobody's paying that much attention anyway. They're all splashing around, baking in the sun, and complaining.

Ingrid kisses you back gratefully, her arms around your neck.

"At least we're here together," you say with a hopeful smile.

She nods, blushing.
