IIIB. Marriage
While marriage within an Oedipal Zone can involve a multitude of relationships (e.g. mother/son, aunt/nephew, brother/sister, father/daughter, uncle/neice, student/teacher, Alpha/Beta/Orphan), the most common coupling for a first marriage is a mother and her new Alpha son. It is also important to note that polygamy is accepted and legal in Oedipal Zones; many Alphas take on other women, especially relatives, as further wives. Regardless, this section will detail the marriage and consummation ceremony involving a mother and her son.
In legal terms, a husband and wife cannot object to any request by their Alpha son to divorce. If he wishes to marry his mother, the divorce can be filed and the new wedding scheduled using a single contract.
In Church of Jocasta wedding ceremonies, it is traditional for the father to walk the mother down the aisle, giving her away to their son. After the mother and son exchange their vows, the mother will remove her wedding ring, giving it to her ex-husband. Then the father presents the bride and groom with their new rings, and the son puts them on himself and his mother. This demonstrates the transfer of partnership and status from the father to his Alpha son. This tradition may be combined with another common OZ wedding tradition involving the removal of the old rings and ejaculation upon them by the son as they lay in the father's cupped hands, or another less-antagonistic variant involving the father passing on his original ring to the son.
At the end of the ceremony is the Church's version of "receiving the Eucharist." The priest or priestess in attendance will give the bride a fertility pill, cancelling out any present birth control and providing a virtual guarantee of pregnancy upon consumation. Similarly, the son is given a pill to increase his libido, virility, and sperm production. The exact nature of these medications has been changing rapidly as new products become available; in many cases, the aforementioned sexual modifications are semi-permanent.
During their first night as husband and wife, it is traditional for the Alpha and his mother to include the father in some way. In the honeymoon suite, the mother and son will strip down, and the son will put on a condom. In some cases they put on one of his father's, demonstrating the Alpha's larger manhood by tearing through it. Sons who do this might demand that their father pull off the ruined condom, or even order their new mother-wives to tell the father to remove it.
Once all physical, chemical, and symbolic barriers to conception have been removed, the Alpha son copulates with his mother-wife. As soon as his seed enters her, they have begun the sacred work of expanding their new family.
