I finished the project

“So, let me preface this by saying I was not expecting that phone call to go like that.” That’s a lie. “And because of that I feel really bad about what I’m going to say.” That is also a lie. “I sort of already finished the project on my own.” A look of shock appears on Alex’s face. “I’m sorry, what?”

“I started getting impatient so I started doing the project on my own. Eventually I realized, I did the whole thing.” The look of shock is soon replaced by one of anger. “Are you telling me that I just cancelled a date to work on a project that is already done? I cancelled a date for nothing?”

“Sort of,” I reply. “Why? Why did you tell we had to work on this project if you already finished it?”

“Again, this may not be the greatest excuse in the world, but I wanted to spend more time with you.”

“So, because of you, I had to cancel my date, it seems like I’ve broken up with my boyfriend, and all that happened because I decided to work on a project that is already finished. Am I understanding that correctly?”

“Well, when you put it like that it does sound that great.” She grabs me by my shirt and brings me face-to-face with her. “Do you know what me and my boyfriend were going to do after our date.” I do but I’m choosing to be play ignorant, so I shake my head. “We were going to have sex! Like so much sex! I’ve been feeling very stressed out lately and a good way to deal with stress is by working it out during sex.”

“I may have heard that before.” She grips my shirt tighter and the anger in her voice becomes even more apparent. “So, since I’m not going to go out with my boyfriend and have sex afterwards because of you, you need to make it up to me. And do you know what you are going to do to make up for that?”

I play dumb and say, “Call you boyfriend back and tell him the date is uncanceled?” She says, “What? No. Fuck him! He already said some stuff that makes me want to break up with him already. No, you cost me an opportunity to get some dick, so now you owe me some dick. Specifically, your dick.” I’m loving that Alex now has an opportunity to swear as much as she wants, because it makes this whole situation so much more appealing. “Do you understand me?”

“I understand you, loud and clear,” I respond.
