Huge spiders

It seemed like hours later that Will's path was arrested by great, white strands crossing the path. He looked into the trees and saw the webs all around him. Before he could think of turning around, a horrible hissing voice behind him crooned: "Well, well, well... what have we here? A far tastier looking morsel than those stone lummoxes from before."

Will turned and saw a tremendous spider, nearly ten feet long and as tall as he was blocking the path back. Would the Giants' belt protect him from this?
