Chapter 7 by enma

You take your...?

Horse-drawn carriage

Your manservant holds open the door for you and you step into your carriage. It is emblazoned with the family coat of arms and your personal red flag.

With a quick word to the driver you are on your way home to your castle. Thankfully the journey is not long and soon you can see it out the curtained window.

It is a large castle, done in white stone making the red banners seem akin to blood dripping down fingers. Or maybe that’s just the recent war affecting your perception. Either way, it is home and has been in your family for centuries.

The large iron gates open easily before the carriage and not before time you step out onto familiar soil. You are warmly greeted by servants and soldiers alike and sweep into the main hall where you are practically mobbed by your people.

To your relief you are rescued by your head butler who shoos them away imperiously.
“General John, I am sure you are in need of rest and relaxation. Shall I order a bath for you and some food brought to your chambers?”

What shall you do?
