Honesty is the best policy.
Edwin put the pencil to a fresh page of the Rulebook. Marking the page with the header "The World," he started writing.
"New Rule: Human beings are incapable of lying when they are having sex."
It was possible that the sting of the breakup was influencing his thoughts, but Edwin didn't care. While Jane hadn't complained about the sex until the breakup, if she had said something he would have worked on it for her.
"New Rule: In judicial proceedings, judges and lawyers are allowed to use sex to compel witnesses to tell the truth."
"New Rule: Lawyers work in male/female teams so that any witness can be compelled to tell the truth."
"Let's see that bitch lawyer put a witness on the stand and have them lie again," Edwin said heatedly.
Finally, he decided to cover all his bases.
"New Rule: Lawyers and judges having sex with witnesses is not ****, even if the witness is ****."
"New Rule: Sex with lawyers and judges is a pleasurable experience for witnesses."
Just because honesty was a good start to rooting out corruption, Edwin did not want to cause anybody pain or suffering. He did not view himself as a monster.
Closing the Rulebook, Edwin began preparing for his next case. He had a deposition with one of the prosecution's witnesses in the morning.
