Subject: Great upheaval

A.K.A Age of Aquarius.

In the mid-21st century, there were five great advancements to the human civilization. Two were in the field of space flight. One dealing with the human genome. And two were in the field of human reproduction.

First was the development of faster-than-light technology or FTL. This allowed mankind to truly explore, not just the near-Earth space, but the entire solar system and beyond. Within a decade Mars, most of the moons of Jupiter and Saturn were colonized. Man had even found planets outside his own Sol System. At the end of the 21st century, man had built a small empire of 15 star system. Next was the development of artificial gravity. Many scholars do not see this as a great advancement. Consider that now Artificial gravity permitted Star ships to fly straight no longer needing to corkscrew through space. Allows our battleships to target more accurately. And make fucking a damn sight easier.

The first human developments was the discovery of human longevity. This had been a dream since the days of the Pharaohs. To be able to start a long project and see it succeed. Man's life had been concentrated into 80 years. With this new development, man could and would live longer up to 150 to 200 years. This was a double-edged development meaning that people could stay active and productive longer. Longevity was a boon to the pre-FTL ships. Considering that most flights of that time could take 20 years. The downside was the increase of the population and demands on the planetary resources. This alone was the major push for FTL.

The last two developments were in the field of human reproduction. The creation of the first artificial womb. But the AWOMB was designed for women that were bairn. The AWOMB was even better the nature. Birth defects were non-existent among women using the AWOMB. Women weren’t the only ones who could be implanted into a man with minor alterations to his anatomy. This would permit gay couples to have children.

The second development was the artificial penis. designed to serve those with erectile dysfunction, accidental castration, and cancer survivors. When the first of these new developments were used it was heralded as a great advancement for survivors. But a great uproar went off when the womb was used by men and the penis was wanted by the women. the development of these new attachments found that you did not have to give up your natural sexual orientation but could have both. In short, it blurred the gender line.

Conservative groups, racial purity groups, and fundamental religious groups cried that this was the beginning of the end of civilization. Calling anyone who used such developments were abomination to man. Those that resisted these groups saw this as a turning point in the development of man and civilization. Arguing that gender was no longer the dominant nature and that men and women could be closer in their sex.

From 2061 to 2071 there was a great debate and war of words. The religious right, the Purest, called anyone and everyone that used these new developments monsters. While the Enlightenment called this the Golden Age of mankind. This war of words would end on October 3, 2071, when an ultra-Christian priest bombed a meeting in London.

2071 to 2091 is known as the Great Civil War. This was not just nation versus nation but street, house, and family versus one another. As sides were set most of the religious groups, conservative political sex, and extreme racists made up the priesthood. At the outset, the United States, North Africa, the Middle East, China, Russia, and Italy made up the bulk of this group. The Enlightenment consisted of secular groups, LGBT Q, central and South America, Canada, Southeast Asia, Japan, and most of northern and western Europe.

Battles raged all over the planet. What is unusual about this time was no nuclear weapons were used. The first major break, the purest, in the war came when the high rabbi declared "that the development of the new technologies was God way of saying it's time for a change". The first of the purest countries to break were China and Russia losing 70% of their population. This left only the United States, Italy, and the Muslim world. While the Enlightenment camp was stable central and South America along with India and Southeast Asia had a long tradition of transgender people.

2089 a great battle took place near the Megiddo. Where the purest mostly Christian and Muslim extremists face off against those of the enlightenment. What is interesting about this battle is that the Enlightenment forces suffered light casualties while the Purists suffered 80% casualties. Most of the casualties were due to fighting among the groups themselves. Losses included the Pope and many of his cardinals, the Ca-diff of Islam in many of his religious leaders, and many of the evangelical leaders from the United States. This effectively ended the war as both the new Pope and the ca-diff begged for peace and would accept transgender. This was the birth of the UTG(United Terran government).

The last two years of the war 2089 to 2091 Took place in the United States. There were three battles of consequence first the battle of New York City. UTG forces landed on Long Island and moved against light resistance. From the time that the UTG landed to the fall of the UN took five weeks. As the United States purest forces retreated from New York major uprisings were in full swing. The West Coast and New England broke and joined forces with UTG. Next was the battle of Washington DC and the Purest president of the United States. As UTG forces moved out of New York. Local enlightenment forces moved out along the East Coast, Florida, the Great Lakes and the Dakotas. The president ordered all troops loyal to him to defend Washington. The siege lasted 18 months. It ended with the death of the president. This effectively ended the war east of the Mississippi. The last battle was in Las Vegas. The battle was anti-climatic as during the siege much of the rest of the United States joined the UTG. The purists with little to no army left held out for 30 days. The last message from Las Vegas before the final assault said "We the true people of earth will always fight against the abomination of our species". With that, the radio station was blown up.

The result of the war, was the establishment of the UTG military on land, sea, and space forces. The end of religious and racial bigotry. There were many new freedoms for sexual, marital, transgenderism, and public displays of affection, sex in public. It was the beginning of the true age of Aquarius.
