Her Room

Kelly was a little taken back by her stepmothers almost sickly sweet reception . Her stepmother or Gail as Kelly would always refer to her had always despised Kelly. Now here she was acting as if they a been the best of friends. Gail hugged her warmly for almost too long but her Cheshire cat grin made Kelly feel uneasy again.

"Welcome home baby." She even took care Kelly's bag with all of her make up and clothes in it. Kelly nervously replied "Thanks Gail I'm glad you got me out of there I...." Gail quickly interrupted putting an index finger to Kelly's lips. "Shush baby girl you must be tired from such an exciting day.

"Lets go upstairs so I can help you get ready for bed, Kelly glanced at the clock briefly as it was only 5:28 in the afternoon. What was Gail thinking there was still plenty of daylight out and help her "get ready" she's a 24 year old woman for crying out loud. Kelly climbed the familiar steps with Gail following right behind her.

As they ascended the steps Gail began talking about making a clean slate and starting all over.Kelly still a little unsure about her stepmothers strange behavior listened on and started feeling better about her situation. After all the arguments they had it seemed like Gail was finally going to try and make amends with her. Kelly started to relax a little bit by the time hey reached the second floor hallway.

When they approached her bedroom door Gail swiftly reached around Kelly with a small key and unlocked the door from the outside. "Huh I guess you made some changes since I've been away." Kelly noted. Gail seemed to be suppressing a smirk as she pocketed the key and gently motioned for her stepdaughter to enter. Kelly pushed the surprisingly heavy door open hoping to finally get some privacy.

When she stepped in the room it was almost pitch black and her light switch on the wall seemed to be missing. She stumbled in the dark a few more steps and her bedroom light seemed to come on by itself temporarily blinding her with sudden the brightness. While her eyes were adjusting she started to notice how strange her room looked. It had been completely transformed. It resembled a cross between a little girls room and some parts even resembled a nursery. Her once once queen sized bed with silky red sheets had been replaced with what looked like an adult sized crib with strong metal bars.

There were various implements in every corner. Her vanity mirror had been switched out for a floor length tickle me Elmo mirror. Childish posters adorned each and every wall which were now painted a nauseatingly bright pink. She even noticed what seemed to be baby's changing station right outside of her bathroom door. Her head swam in confusion as she rotated slowly towards Gail. "Welcome Home Baby!!!" Gail said with a mocking cheer. That sick feeling started to sink back in as she started to realize exactly what Gail had in mind.......
