She inhaled deeply and let it out.

"No."

"no? you don't..."

"No, it...it wasn't hypothetical. I'm pretty sure i...love...you....Are you..i mean, is that cool or..?"

I couldn't say a word. I couldn't even breathe normal. I'd known her long enough to usually tell when she was joking, and right now she was dead serious. Holy shit, Shana just said she loved me!

"It's probably too much to say you love me too, right?"

"...i don't know."

"Oh." She stood up and went to the door quickly, in long steps. "Well, don't sweat it. If ya don't, ya don't! I prob'ly better go make you some soup or something, so..."

"that voice isn't fooling anyone."

"What are you talking about?"

"I...i have to go.."

"shana. show me, please."

She turned. I'm so stupid. I thought i would see that cliche single tear in her eye, but she was too far away and my eyes were still a little blurry. I couldn't have seen it. God, i'm an idiot.

"Ok, you caught me. Yes, i'm doing that stupid single-tear thing, alright? Just lemme go make that soup." Wow. Good thing Shana was so open about that.

"look, shana..." I groaned as i scooted up so i was sitting up. I had an idea. If i wasn't sure, i would leave it up to something i couldn't control. To fate, if you will. "i'm not entirely sure whether i'm in love with you too..."

"Yeah, i know! Now please let me leave."

"...but, i want to be. but since i can't **** myself, i wanna try something else. i wanna leave it to circumstance."

"uh..Ok. What did you have in mind?"

"one kiss."

"A kiss?!"

"yeah. i've heard that people usually start to fall in love during their first kiss. if i do during our's, then things should be ok, right?"

"I guess so. But what if you don't?"

"then i guess i'll kick myself for not telling you i did for the rest of my life." I smiled.

Shana came back to the bedside, this time coming in short steps. Nervous steps. Sitting on the bed she leaned in close to me. I brushed her hair behind her ear and rested my hand under her chin. She sighed, half at the cliche hand placement, half in happiness. Her eyes closed and her lips parted as i closed the gap and did the same.

"....Mmmm."

"mmm."

After an amount of time i didn't care about passed, we pulled away slightly. Her eyes opened and shined.

"Well? Did you feel it?"
