Head upstream

Hoping the path up the stream means a clearer path and hopefully a vantage point, you start your journey. You walk along the edge of the stream, but the thick overgrowth slows you enough you eventually just trudge against the flowing water. It really is amazing, you actually feel like you are struggling against flowing water. The stream guides you, twisting and turning, until you notice the ground changing.

What once felt like a light layer of stones and mud has changed to a true marsh. With each step you feel the ground squish deeper beneath you, until your feet and ankles fully sink into the mud with the water reaching all the way up your neck. Even as you struggle to press on, you must admit the realism of the feel and struggle proved that this technology really is amazing! It doesn’t take long until you come upon a marshy clearing.

The trees open to a swamp about the size of a football field, and on the other side of the reeds you can see dry land. You don’t know if going straight across would mean sinking even deeper, and you can barely stay above water as it is, but it would be the clearest shot. On the other hand, you could go around either to the right or left, hugging the tree line in hopes of more solid footing... though it would be longer.
