Chapter 8 by Groffin Groffin

Does Skull Kid persist being a nuisance?

He quits and offers a trade

Linkle scowled at seeing the instigator of this whole farce picking himself back up. Angling her legs to cover her groin and holding her crossbows at her chest to obscure her breasts, she called the little blighter out.

“I’m done playing games twerp, give me back what’s mine and we can forget all about this!”

“Alright alright, fiiiine.” Skull Kid grumbled as he spun around in mid-air. Gazing down at her crossly as if he was the aggrieved party in all of this, he settled in to wheedle a deal.

“If you promise to quit trying to set me on fire, you can have either your outfit or your compass back.”

“The heck!?” Linkle spluttered, “You’re in no position to bargain, give it all back!”

“Hmm, nah,” Skull Kid chortled, back on his mischief, “I can keep playing, I just don’t feel like it anymore. If you want to stop, your gonna have to do a bit of give and take. That’s what friends do after they play with each other’s things.”

“We. Aren’t. Friends!” Linkle snarled.

“One or the other, take it or leave it.” The Skull Kid reaffirmed, unfazed. Then he giggled again, “I mean it’s not like you can hold together the clothes you do have on you anyway,” he continued bantering, gesturing as her exposed body, “It be a waste to throw some clothes back on to ruin later.”

“Grrr.” Linkle was seething now, cheeks flushed and eyes narrowed. “That was your fault too.” But even as she sniped at the imp, she realized that there really was nothing she could do or say to intimidate him into compliance. After a little more time staring each other down, Linkle sighed and acquiesced.

“...Fine, give me my compass back.” Linkle muttered in a huff.

Skull kid snorted and tossed the gold trinket at her, causing the farmgirl to drop one of her trusty crossbows with an indignant yelp to catch it.

After putting her treasured heirloom back on and picking up her weapons, Link glared up at Skull Kid again. “If I ever see you again, you’ll be really sorry.”

With that she turned to walk away, only to stumble immediately. A second glance at her footwear revealed they were more badly damaged than she’d first thought, the leather utterly warped and falling apart. With an aggravated hiss, she sat on the tiles of the Tenple floor and pulled the ruined boots and socks off her legs.

“Hah! See what I mean,” Skull Kid cackled, “You just can’t wait to take every last stitch off naughty girl, I’m surprised you even raised a stink about wanting them back!”

Standing up again, wearing nothing but her braid ties, compass, and the thigh straps she wore under her boots to hang her crossbows off of, Linkle considered just shooting Skull Kid out of the air all over again, but decided against it. She had a mission.

And with that thought, Linkle primly stepped forward, heading back towards the main road to continue her trek through the forest to find Hyrule Castle, doing her best to restrain her trigger fingers and ignore the laughing imp she left behind her.

How goes the rest of the walk through the forest?
