Chapter 7 by SingingLark SingingLark

What should she do?

Greet in passing

He did look the dangerous sort, but Liandra was set to not let her fears spoil her day. 'It is probably nothing, and I will laugh about it later' she though. So she held her basket all the tighter, and said when she neared "good morning, sir"

"Morning, missy." the man said. She noticed he had a short sword, the hilt and scabbard were the same color as the rest of his attire, so it was easy to miss them from a distance. "Going to make a picnic?"

"y-yes I am, sir" she hadn't planned anything beyond good morning. His dark vests must have been very old, for there were sewed holes.

"Today is dangerous, there will be a faerie market tonight" he said matter of factly "many people disappear on this day, and no one is ever the wiser" A chill ran up her spine, was this man threatening her? or warning her?

"I don't plan to linger that long. I will just enjoy the sunshine, and then return to the castle "

"Still foolhardy, if you ask me. But if you insist.... here" he shows a dagger with a golden hilt, and Liandra cant see where he got it from. It was certainly nothing someone like him should carry.

"I can give you this dagger. It is magical, and it saved my life a few times." he offers it to her, hilt first.

should Liandra accept the gift?
