As you finish entering the gate, the gate closes back up again with a loud clunk. You hear the heavy gears and tumblers turn inside a hidden mechanism inside as it locks back up nice and tight and secure.
The front entrance of the school is at the top of a long flight of steps to the north. The front gate is to your south.
