Chapter 8 by Thalarynth Thalarynth

What does Tally do in the meantime?

Go take a leak

Tally put a hand over his bladder. He had to go, quite badly, and he didn’t want to do it on the floor, so he had to consider going outside. Showing himself in broad daylight would be a risky endeavor, no doubt, but nature was calling. Tally decided to take his chances, and carefully peered out of the entrance tent flap. Most of Mi’s warriors were down in the town, subjugating the humans and generally making life miserable for them, so activity was fairly low here at their base. Tally saw only two women strolling through his field of view, in conversation, but they were headed away from him. Once they were out of sight, Tally undid the flap as stealthily as he could, stepped out of the tent, and immediately snuck round to the opposite side, so the body of the tent would hide him from view.

Mi’s tent was pitched near a minor cliff, beneath which was some untended vegetation, which grew into a full-blown woods a short distance away. Tally picked a suitable bush to aim for, dropped trou, and—

“Hi!”

“Eep! Brim, please don’t do that.”

Brim’s face, greeting him from inside his pants, gradually drifted away trailed by the rest of her. “Worth it, for that incredibly manly squeal you made just now. Did I getcha?”

“Can’t I please just take a piss in peace?” Tally pleaded. As he relieved himself, he diligently ignored Brim forming circles with her forefingers and thumbs and trying to place them at different points along the stream, like shower rings on a liquid curtain rod.

“You are incredibly crass sometimes, you know that?” Tally grumbled, as he hitched his pants back up.

“Only sometimes?” Brim pouted, in mock offense. “I must try to do better, then.” Tally made to circle back round to the entrance to the tent so he could hide out inside until Mi came back, but his path was interrupted by a fist.

Tally was socked across the face, the **** of the punch knocking him backwards, landing dangerously close to the edge of the cliff. Below him lay a rather modest fall, in all honesty, but it was spiced up by some incredibly painful-looking thornbushes and a generous quantity of poison ivy.

“I knew I didn’t imagine that pathetic little squeak,” said Tally’s attacker. It was one of Mi’s warriors, who had come to investigate the startled yelp Tally had made just now. “What’s the matter, human,” she taunted, placing the toe of her boot on Tally’s neck, “see a ghost?”

Tally shoved up the leg of her pants high enough to expose some skin around her lower leg below the knee, and wrapped his hands around it. Brim was already prepared, and immediately started channeling her magic through the physical contact into Tally’s attacker. Her expression softened within seconds, and she took the pressure off of Tally’s neck. Tally continued to keep a firm grip round her calf as she stood over him, swaying on the spot, her mind filling up with new feelings and making her dizzy. For one terrifying moment, Tally watched her lose her balance while still standing directly over him- she fell to her knees on either side of Tally, effectively straddling him, but this broke Tally’s hold on her.

She knelt there, dazed, long enough for Tally to grab hold of her hand instead to complete the process. After another ten seconds or so, she came.

Tally gazed awkwardly up at her, still straddling him, sunken to her knees with Tally underneath her. “She’s ours,” Brim informed him, giving the thumbs up. The new recruit shook her head to clear it of fog, as awareness of her surroundings came back to her. “Hi,” she said to Tally. She made no attempt to get off of him.

“Hello,” Tally replied. There was a period of silence. “So, you aren’t going to kill me?” Tally confirmed. “No,” the woman said. “Good,” Tally nodded. There was another long pause. Still, she did not get up.

“So… what’s your name?” Tally asked casually.

“I’m Kraya.”

“Nice to meet you Kraya, I’m Tally. Erm… I would shake your hand or something, but as it happens, you’re pinning me down at the moment, and it’s kind of uncomfortable.”

If nothing else, Kraya immediately responded to the idea that she might be causing Tally discomfort, and hastily stood up. “Better?” she asked. Before Tally could formulate a response, both he and Kraya’s attention snapped to the sound of approaching footsteps coming round the circumference of the tent.

“Who the fuck is moaning behind my…” It was Mi Iau. Upon seeing Tally lying prone on the ground with Kraya standing above him, Mi quickly drew one of her twin swords.

“No, it’s alright, it’s alright!” Tally cried. “I’ve just… sorted out our differences.”

“I won’t let you hurt him,” Kraya proclaimed to Mi Iau, protectively blocking Tally from Mi’s view.

“She’s not going to,” Tally told her. “Here, help me up. I’ll explain.”

Kraya held out a hand for Tally to grab, and brushed off his shirt once he was fully upright. “Is she brainwashed too?” Mi asked, still warily eyeing Kraya.

“Yes, she is,” Tally nodded. “I am?” Kraya repeated, surprised. “Is that why my head is all fuzzy? I feel weird…”

“That will wear off in time,” Tally said. “Now, both of you, let’s get inside before someone else sees us.”

Back inside the tent, Tally properly introduced himself to the second member of his soon-to-be harem. Kraya was excited to help out in any way she could. It did take her a few seconds to perform the mental gymnastics necessary to turn her back on the invasion effort she had been pouring her life into, but her newfound devotion to Tally and his goals proved more than enough motivation to turn her against her own people. She particularly enjoyed being privy to a secret plan only shared with her general. Mi, however, was irritated seeing one of her own grunts being placed on equal footing with her as Tally’s soldier, so she was quick to re-assert the pecking order before Kraya got too overconfident.

“Kraya, I’m giving you the job of being Tally’s bodyguard,” Mi decided: a rather redundant task to give her, all things considered, but Mi needed an excuse to give out an order. Kraya’s smug smile faltered a little, but she liked the sound of getting to stick to Tally like glue, so she didn’t much care.

“Yes, ma’am,” Kraya chanted. Mi took a quick peek outside the tent, before ducking back inside to address Tally: “Tally, I need to know, are we about to be smuggling you out the gate right at this very moment?”

Tally looked surprised. “I wasn’t thinking right at this moment, no.”

“In that case, I’m going to have to leave you in Kraya’s care for a bit,” Mi Iau replied apologetically. “I still have to keep up appearances as general, you understand, and I’ll be missed if I hang out in here with you all day. Unless you need me by your side right now, I should probably go?”

“Go ahead,” Tally said, “It’s more useful not to have you under suspicion for anything. Do whatever you need to appear normal.”

“Got it,” Mi nodded. “I should be able to check on you by the afternoon. I have this old man who I threatened to hunt down and beat up yesterday after he got in my way…”

“Now hold on,” Tally warned her, “remember: No oppressing human beings. The whole point of recruiting you is to stop you from doing that.”

Mi narrowed her eyes as her mind attempted to reconcile this instruction with her entire previous way of life. “…Within reason,” she reluctantly conceded. “If I suddenly start going too soft on the humans, my warriors might question my leadership, but I’ll try my best. Maybe I’ll just toss him around enough to scare him.”

“Mi…” Tally said sternly.

“Fine, I promise not to beat up the elderly,” Mi said, as if she were being **** into something completely unreasonable. Tally nodded, not quite satisfied, but concerned that he might be pushing his luck if he **** the issue. Brainwashed or not, he didn’t want to needlessly antagonize her.

Mi bowed to Tally to assure him of her continued loyalty, and then ducked out of the tent and out of sight. “Ooh,” said Brim, pacing around the circumference of the tent, “nicely done there, reminding her who’s boss. I guarantee she’d never have given in that easily for anyone else.”

Kraya seemed to be thinking something along the same lines, staring with her mouth slightly agape at the space where Mi had left. To see the general concede to anyone, much less a human, was a big deal. And to see Tally convince her out of using ****, a principle upon which her whole life was built, perhaps even bigger. At this point, Kraya fully realized how total Tally’s control over herself and the general must be, to be able to pull that off without earning himself a sword in the chest. The realization brought her nothing but a giddy sense of excitement and joy.

“You okay there?” Tally asked her, breaking Kraya’s stupor. Kraya blinked and grinned down at him. “Just thinking about how much fun this is going to be. I don’t even know you, but I’d do anything for you, and I can’t wait to find out where that takes me. It’s the strangest feeling. So… what do you want to do until the general gets back?”

What does Tally tell Kraya?
