Go see your family

With the admiral's speech finally over, he rang the ceremonial gong signifying that we all officially graduated from the academy and we can now call ourselves Astrofleet officers. A few parting words were given and we were all free to carry out our first assignments.

Before you could get within twenty feet of your family, your sister takes off sprinting in your direction. She wrapped her arms around you and almost took you to the ground. She buries her face in your uniform to try to hide the tears of happiness streaming down her face. You've been training at the academy for four straight years with only the occasional break bringing you back home. You may not have always loved your little sister, but she never stopped looking up to you as her favorite role model.

Noticing your inability to move, the rest of the family comes over to you and your sister. Although they try to embarrass you in your uniform with hugs and kisses, nothing will ever top your sister's one-of-a-kind greeting.

A few pictures for the family scrapbook later and you check the time. It's was about time you leave for the shuttle to the Massachusetts. Once again, you had to pry your sister off so you could leave. This time, you wouldn't be able to see one another in person for at least two years depending on scheduling. You couldn't stop either your sister or your mother from crying, but promising to bring back all sorts of tales of adventure seemed to cheer them up
