What’s happening with Stella and Cassie during all this?
Girls’ Night Out
The following chapter is written in 3rd person POV, following Stella and Cassie.
“Cheers!”
Stella shouts as she forcefully clinks her eighth bottle of beer against Cassie’s second.
It’s been a few hours since Jay dropped the girls off before meeting up with Tanya for their date. The girls walked around that part of the city for a while and window shopped before grabbing a bite to eat for dinner to prepare for the main activity of their Girls’ Night Out — drinking.
Lots of drinking based on the pace Stella is going.
The two of them are standing near the stage of “The Red Door”, a bar on L Street, the city’s local hotspot for up and coming musical acts, while the next band is still setting up to perform. The crowd’s mostly talking amongst their own group of friends, drinking, and having an all around good time. Some guys have come up to the girls to flirt but Stella handled them swiftly enough, making it known that they weren’t here for that. However, by Stella’s fourth, it was Cassie who was doing most of the work to shoo them off.
Now that Stella’s on her eighth though, Cassie’s concerned this night is going to end early if Stella doesn’t outright stop her drinking. Worse, it will probably end in Cassie having to carry her home if she gets any more.
“You wanna slow down!?” Cassie shouts at Stella, so Stella could hear her over the noise of the crowd and music playing from the bar’s sound system. Stella doesn’t respond, and continues to dance in place, swaying her hips with her arms above her head, and her beer bottle in hand.
Cassie grabs Stella by the arm and yanks it a bit to get Stella’s attention.
“What!?” Stella shouts annoyed.
“What’s going on with you?” Cassie asks, returning Stella’s annoyance in equal measure.
“I’m having fun, Cass! Lighten up!” Stella answers her.
“I can see that. But you might want to slow down, don’t you think?” Cassie suggests, full of concern, but also very much irritated at her best friend right now.
“Oh! I didn’t know I invited my mom to this Night Out! I’m so sorry! Let me act all prim and proper so I won’t embarrass myself.” Stella answers Cassie sarcastically, and mockingly does ‘shy girl’ poses.
“I’m not playing this game with you Stella. I’ve been to parties with you in college, and you’re clearly not acting like your usual self.” Cassie says, choosing to let Stella’s mocking slide, focusing on her concern for her friend.
Before the two of them could get into it, the band “Some Worries” enters the stage to a chorus of woos, which Stella joins, effectively ignoring Cassie’s observation of her behavior. Knowing this isn’t the best time right now, and remembering Stella can’t get any more drinks if she’s watching the band perform, Cassie loosens up like Stella suggested and just enjoys the band’s performance.
To Cassie’s dismay, the set of the band was pretty short. Cassie only really liked the first and last songs they played — a song about an ex being a bitch, and a song about an ex-band member being, well, another bitch, respectively. As the crowd’s applause and woos die down, Stella is ready to get another drink.
Before Stella can make her way to the bar, Cassie grabs her arm once more to prevent her from going anywhere. “Can I talk to you for a sec?” Cassie asks Stella close to Stella’s ear so she could hear her.
“Then talk!” Stella shouts back with visible annoyance.
“Outside.” Cassie says through gritted teeth, and she drags Stella by the arm towards the exit. Unfortunately, Stella’s much stronger than she is and breaks away.
“The fuck are you doing Cass?” as she breaks away, her anger visible and heightened by the ****, she wobbles a bit as she doesn’t have proper footing in her heels and almost falls down. Cassie was, fortunately, able to catch her before she completely fell down.
“You good?” Cassie asks. Stella nods and uses Cassie for support to stand up straight. “Good. Can we talk outside now, please? Like we’re both adults?” Cassie pleads with an obviously drunk Stella. Stella doesn’t resist anymore and let’s Cassie wrap her arm around her waist, and makes Stella do the same.
Cassie supports Stella while she walks as the two of them make their way to the exit, and breathe in the cool night air of the city once they’re outside. Cassie decides to lean on a wall so that Stella can do the same and recover from drinking too much too quickly. Without the music of the bar to dance to, Stella’s feeling the dizziness from the **** a lot more and leans her head on the wall behind her while she has her eyes closed.
Cassie gives Stella some time to breathe and recover. Cassie’s not going to hound her for now as she can clearly see that the **** finally caught up with Stella. Stella’s breathing gets heavy as she deeply inhales through her nose, and blows all the air out through her mouth. Cassie know what’s coming next, so she steps away from her a bit to give her space. “Hugh… Hugh…” ~and she pukes. Now that Cassie knows Stella’s puking trajectory, she gets closer to her to rub her back while supporting her weight so that she doesn’t fall over when she releases more **** from her system.
As Stella releases the last hurl of puke from her body, she stands up straight and wipes her mouth with the back of her hand before Cassie could hand her a wet-wipe from her purse.
“You good to walk?” Cassie asks Stella, and Stella just gives thumbs up, not wanting to nod her head out of fear of triggering dizziness. “Alright, there’s a convenience store around the block. Let’s go.”
What happens once they make it to the convenience store?
