Get high and watch TV

This is a little bit of a silly chapter/idea but once i had it, I had to write it. If you like it, like/comment and i might continue it.

It was something of a running joke between Chuck and James thst they would gas each other up about hitting the town, getting chicks, when in reality, it meant that Chuck had scored some weed. Waiting to 8 was probably Chuck waiting until his parents left for some event.

But, hey, getting high in your buddy's basement is a noble calling practiced by many for generations.

So they headed down to the basement to get high and play video games. If James had his wits about him, he might have noticed how badly Chuck started playing after James told him he sucked at Street Fighter, but he didn't have his wits about him and he would probably chalk it up to Chuck getting high. After four rounds of James absolutely demolishing Chuck, Chuck asked for a break. James didnt mind nor did he mind when Chuck changed the input on the TV back to cable.

Chuck flipped through the channels somewhat aimlessly. He turned to MSNBC and left it on for a minute or two before James uttered something ill-considered.

"Man, they should just put me in charge," James said, half-paying attention to what the anchor lady was saying, "I don't think we'd have as many problems."

"In charge of what, Jim?"

"The government, man! Like, just put me in, I'll fix it like that" James attempted to snap. Both of their trains of thought were derailed by the breaking news bulletin on the TV.

"We actually have a massive update on a story we reported on earlier today, we go live now to Andrea at the Supreme Court."

"We are just getting this now but the Supreme Court in a special session today has unanimously decided that the uncovered secret treaty signed by George Washington is valid and supersedes the Constituition. This momentous decision leaves James Case the sole absolute sovereign of America."

"President, or I suppose I should say, former president Joe Biden has returned to his home in Rehoboth, Delaware, where he issued a statement saying he was merely keeping Case's seat warm, and that he would be willing to serve as Prime Minister if he were asked."

"After-hours trading shows stocks are sharply up after the news of our new leader's ascension. President Putin has withdrawn his forces from Ukraine as a show of good faith, saying he looked forward to meeting the new American leader..."

"Dude, you're on TV..." Chuck said, freaking out.

"What do we know about James Case? He is 20 years old, lives in the Quad Cities area on the border of Iowa and Illinois, and appears to not be registered to vote. The closest thing to a political opinion he has mentioned on social media is a photo of a BMW parked across two spots, and a caption saying the driver should be shot. We do not know if our new leader intends to implement the **** penalty for parking infractions, nor what title he will take. According to my sources, the US Marshall Service and the Secret Service should be moving into to remove Case to a secure location now."

There was a very sharp and insistent knock on Chuck's front door. Both James and Chuck just stared at each other.

"In other news, representatives from Israel and Palestine have agreed to a long-term peace settlement with two states with a roadmap towards a secular democratic single state as they reach milestones and the situation evolves..."
