Gem-Ladies and Gem-Gentlemen

Abigail was sitting in the taxi on route to the hotel she had booked a room for just minutes earlier. She was exploring the apps on her phone, looking for some way to distract herself from all of the stress which had encompassed her day today when an app she didn't recognize caught her attention.

The app was colourful with a flashy logo displaying the initials "GL" with numerous coloured blocks reaching to the corners of the logo display. Recognizing this as what must be some sort of game she decided to open the app and give it a try before reaching the hotel.

"WELCOME TO GEM-LADIES, CHALLENGE ADDITION" the text on the title screen read. Abigail pressed her thumb on the screen to continue reading the welcome message.

"IN THIS NEW EVOLUTION OF THE INCREASINGLY POPULAR 'GEM-LADIES' ORIGINAL, YOU WILL BE GOING HEAD TO HEAD WITH A RANDOM PLAYER TO SEE WHO CAN REACH LEVEL 10 FIRST"

The idea of this being a competition against another already had Abigail's attention, and she grew increasingly more excited to give the game a try.

"THE GAMEPLAY IS SIMPLE, MATCH THE COLOURED BLOCKS IN A SEQUENCE OF AT LEAST THREE TO REMOVE THEM FROM THE BOARD, WITH NEW BLOCKS FALLING IN PLACE UP TOP TO REFILL THE MISSING SPACES. THE LONGER MATCHES YOU ARE ABLE TO MAKE, FOR EXAMPLE 4 IN A ROW, THE HIGHER SCORE YOU WILL RECEIVE."

This gave Abigail a little pause, not being a fan of games like Candy Crush she didn't expect herself to stick at this game for very long. But still, she needed to distract herself right now and was willing to play at least one game. She tapped her screen to continue.

"ONCE YOU REACH THE SCORE GOAL FOR EACH LEVEL, YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO ATTEMPT THE MUCH HARDER STAGES OF THE GAME UNTIL EITHER YOU OR YOUR OPPONENT SUCCESSFULLY PASSES LEVEL 10. GOOD LUCK AND REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN."

Dan had just arrived at his hotel, which would be his home for now until he and Abigail were able to come to some sort of agreement about who would get their house. He loved that house, it was cheep enough that he could afford to live there on a budget, or get a few housemates to spread the cost and still be able to claim an entire floor of the property to himself. He was **** to keep that house and would do anything if it meant he didn't lose it.

He arrived at the hotel in his car, with him being the official owner of the vehicle it was easy to determine that he should keep it while Abigail would have to rely on public transport until she got a car of her own.

Lying on the bed he began messaging any woman who would respond to him, he had become very successful with flirting ever since he caught Abigail cheating on him, resulting in him being with nearly 10 other women until she caught him, leading to their current predicament. Something about being a semi-successful author went a long way to adding to his sex appeal.

As he bounced back from one messaging app to the other he noticed an app that he had never seen before. The app was colourful with a flashy logo displaying the initials "GG" with numerous coloured blocks reaching to the corners of the logo display. He was waiting on a few replies so while he did he thought he's look into the app for a quick game to pass the time.

"WELCOME TO GEM-GENTLEMEN, CHALLENGE ADDITION, GIVEN THE RISING SUCCESS OF OUR 'GEM-LADIES' APP, WE HAVE SEEN IT FIT TO EVOLVE OUR BRAND TO INCLUDE THE MEN IN A NEW CHALLENGE ADDITION OF OUR FAMOUS GAME."

"Famous?" Dan scoffed, "never heard of it."

Dan flicked through the introductory dialogue, just wanting to play a quick game until he got a reply back from one of the women he's been talking to.__
