Chapter 3
by Flammenwerfer
So, who's your specific target?
G36C (Girls Frontline, combat android)
So.
Name's Roland and I'm an interdimensional hopping ghost guy... person thing.
How I came to be a ghost person thingy is something I'm not clear on. Was at home one day, lazing about after a day of house cleaning and scrolling through the socials. When, out of fucking nowhere, some kind of voice of (maybe) God or something like that boomed out, "By powers greater than you can comprehend, you have been chosen!" with enough volume to almost obliterate my damn eardrums and beyond.
After that, things were a blurry mess. I can recall the gist of things - some higher being gave me some sort of set of choices under a fixed budget of unspecified points, all of which involved some form of possession or related. Can't recall anything too specific, though, like the being's (or beings'?) appearance(s) or the location, but... I can sort of recall my choices?
Obviously, I chose to go all in as a ghost, given that I'm a damn spooky boy complete with transparency and the floating stuff. I also knew that I could jump between worlds at any time, though the stipulation was that I could only change my destination once per year; so I would kinda hop between the two same worlds until the time as passed. Thankfully, my initial jump seemed to be free so I could establish point A, which is neat stuff.
Those aside, there's some other choices I made but I would only bring them up when needed. Speaking of, my target for the world I'm jumping to.
I will admit, gacha games have problems and can seriously exploit alot of folks that can't control themselves. Especially the simps, seen plenty of poor fucks spend way too much money for their waifus. That given, I also play gacha games but mainly for surprisingly good gameplay or great story. Punishing Grey Raven, Arknights, Honkai: Star Rail, all of that stuff. Girls Frontline, though, was what brought me into the whole world of mostly quality gacha games. Helluva world those guys at MICA built, there's a reason why that Yuzhong guy is memed a bit as Chinese Koijima, with how he and the developers had made the world and written the story.
Anyway, getting ahead of myself, ancient aliens landed on Earth ages ago, humanity would discover their relics during the Cold War, stuff happens and some factions study and reverse engineer the alien relics, yadda yadda. Importantly, the world would suffer an incident on an island off the coasts of China, releasing a dangerous substance (or was it radiation?) into the trade winds in the atmosphere. This alien stuff would wreck severe damages to the biosphere across the world and leave swaths of land uninhabited, in addition to mutating a large chunk of humanity into silicon zombie monsters. World War Three starts over resource scarcity, and we see the development of the game's main appeal.
Androids, or Dolls. A-Dolls for civilian service, Tactical-Dolls or T-Dolls for paramilitary and police work, and Military-Dolls or M-Dolls for military applications.
War ends, we see the next generation of Dolls come - what most if not all of the obtainable T-Dolls are - where they're nigh indistinguishable from humans for the most part, putting aside their appearances and personalities. There's bunch more - cloak and dagger crap, geopolitics, a shadow war against a mad scientist that wants to unlock the secrets of the alien relics, etc. - but I just wanted to focus on the T-Doll stuff.
Namely, I'm aiming to possess one of the high rarity T-Dolls - G36C. Oh yeah, the T-Dolls employed by the player character's employer (a renowned mercenary company) are all named after the weapon they use.
Back to the target, G36C is a young, shapely, and buxom lady of a T-Doll. Fair white skin, silvery long hair, nice thighs and ass, excellent boobage, and an adorable young sister demeanor that makes her endearing. Now, I ain't a simp and G36C is a pretty good unit for the game, but I chose her because she would probably be the easiest to find and possess; not to mention that I could get a good idea of the world before I do anything else. MICA was pretty thorough in worldbuilding but they didn't exactly go Tolkien levels, so I could be blindsided by things not covered by the game or side material.
I felt something jolt and I realized that my jump was complete. Found myself a couple tens meters up in the sky above the forests and hills of... a unspecified Eastern European countryside - think recent story material pinned most of the early game taking place in Hungary? Might be wrong on that, but I could easily spy the base where the player character operates from. An impressive complex of concrete and steel built over a ravine, with more facilities deep in the earth. With that in sight, I blasted off to see if the base had a G36C I could possess.
Didn't take long before I found the girl with her sister, G36, at the cafe run by the T-Doll Springfield. Is it odd that G36 is technically C's sister even though the only thing the two T-Dolls shared was the weapons they used? Yeah, but most of the fanbase have learned to accept that the in-universe manufacturing company - IOP - can be quirky; after all, one of the T-Dolls is a perpetual drunk and its canonical they can blinded by the sun much like us fleshbag humans.
Anyway, target. I floated around her as she engaged in discussion with her sister, one that I didn't pay attention to much. I glanced around to see Springfield busy with other customers - I spied Lee Enfield, Groza, 9A-91 in a maid outfit - and various other assorted characters scattered around the cafe. Not exactly an ideal spot for a possession, which ironically made the whole "slow start" drawback great in this case. Meant that, outside of process of possessing causing any weird effects, I wouldn't have to immediately go into acting mode to keep up appearances. Sure I would have to wait for some time, and no doubt any Doll maintainers might notice something, but it did mean less stress at the start.
I let myself be drawn into G36C and in a moment, my ghostly form flowed into the android. Thankfully, there wasn't much of a scene caused outside of the girl shivering as I settled myself inside her. A momentary lapse that was easily waved aside and things continued as normal. At least, on the surface.
"Hot damn," I said to myself as I poked around the architecture of the G36C. The game does some work into developing the virtual landscape of a T-Doll's neural cloud, not to mention that you do engage in combat across these virtual worlds at points in the game, but its another thing to see it in person. While it was purely code and branches and all that nitty gritty stuff, the neural cloud in G36C was shown as a quaint little German village surrounded by a healthy forest and fields of grain. Scenic place, even though occasionally blocks of code and programs flowed in between the seams of the scene.
Being a ghost of the supernatural type, the system didn't even register me as a threat; so I didn't have to worry about being deleted and all that. Had plenty time in the world as I delved around G36C's mind, and when she goes to sleep... well, it'll be an interesting experience.
What's next for our intrepid ghost man?
