Friendly, reliable Jan

"I have an idea... it might help us work through a couple social dilemmas at home." You drifted toward the door as Alice and Emilia beckoned you forward. Your blob of light would no doubt be strange to see for others, but you were assured early on that you could go invisible again, so you didn't bother with a body at the moment, taking the time to explore how you understood the world in your spectral form. In a word: weird.

"Oh, so you have a body in mind already?" Jane asked, seemingly eager to walk faster than Alice, something Emilia could not do on her own in her original body.

You thought you nodded, but then remembered you were an amorphous shape and nods in this shape meant nothing to physical beings. "Uh, I do. We have a neighbor, Jan. She's a little obsessed with me, although she's really sweet and kind. For the most part, she keeps to herself, and I can limit my interactions with her to just friendly greetings at the mailbox, but Jane sometimes gets a little weird about Jan's behavior. It might be that if I can possess her, I can help settle some of these feelings directly in her. What are the ethics on tinkering with brains?" Jane gave you a deadpan look. "I, uh, mean that I would never do that! But from inside her, I can talk with her more easily about maybe getting her to realize that it's time to move on later."

With a giggle, Jane climbed into the car, adjusting her glasses. "That may backfire on you, but it sounds like at least you'll have a willing body. If she's infatuated with you, I would be surprised if she wouldn't invite you in." You floated into the backseat, floating above the cushions, before Alice drove off.

The drive was quick, the conversation sparse. Emilia mostly talked with Alice the whole time, via Jane's body, to confirm that the connection for the neural harness was strong as distance increased. After you managed to dim your blob-light so it was unlikely any neighbors might spot you, you led Jane up to the apartment, letting her open the door and step inside.

Jane looked around, scanning left and right so the small cameras in the glasses on her head could be fed back to Emilia's body at the mansion. She nodded a few times, trying to think of something polite to say. "It's... very compact... one does not need to go far to get the things they need." Given that one apartment in this complex was the size of one of Emilia's bathrooms in the mansion, you supposed it could have been worse.

You drifted further in. "If you're going to stick around for a bit, could you knock on Jan's door so we can get this over with? Outside the door, to the left, she's usually home. With a nod, Jane was gone, stepping back a few minutes later with a confused and concerned Jan. "Here, you can see for yourself," Jane said as she led Jan into the apartment, motioning at your floating form.

Jan held her hand over her face, seeing her first ghost ever and instantly believing Emilia's story. "Oh my goodness, I can't believe you died rescuing children from a burning schoolbus," Jan said, almost on the verge of tears.

"...oh, I guess I did that, then. Yes, it was so tragic." You wanted to glare at Jane, for Emilia making up a story about your ****. Her plan was actually quite clever though: you weren't going to live next to Jan for much longer, with the money Emilia was giving you then you'd afford a house. She wouldn't try to check up on you if she thought you'd passed on.

"Yes, but he's still trapped on this earth," Jane said, adjusting the glasses. Jan was too polite to ask about the glasses, but you knew she wanted to. "See, I watch a lot of paranormal television shows, as evidenced by the pile of DVDs by the small television." ...it wasn't that small... "So I know that John must have some unfinished business here. I could not say what it is, that is something that requires time to uncover. But, he needs a body." Jane turns to Jan, and grabs her hand, putting on a big show as she made a pleading face. "Would you help John, sharing yourself so he could find what it is that anchors him to this plane still? He said himself that he wanted to be closer to you, to repay your kindness with an existence more intimate than any two mortal beings could share together."

Jan nodded, vigorously. Emilia really was good at this sort of thing... She knew precisely how to talk Jan into agreement with no uncertainty in her resolve. "Of course. John, you can consider me, my body, to be..." Jan blushed a little at her next words, "to be yours. Anything you need, I'll be happy knowing I helped you find closure." Jan held her arms out toward you, like she was welcoming you to herself with a large hug, brushing away tears in her eyes. "I'm just so happy that you thought of me first for this..!"

Not needing to sell the idea any further, you drifted closer until you could almost touch Jan's body, and then as she nodded at you, you pushed further into her. You felt the same thing you endured when you first took over your fiancée, but you knew better how to spread your essence into Jan's limbs, and energy up into Jan's head, to take full control. You pushed so rapidly into her form, that you felt that you overwhelmed Jan so much that at the moment, she was fully **** as you took over.

You looked down at your body, seeing a new form, a slim body that wasn't unpleasant at all to use, though it lacked the curve of your girlfriend. But, on one hand, you didn't mind that--you felt plenty comfortable in this body that wasn't going to jiggle all over the place, and you could still play with Jane's body from this outside perspective again. "Well, that went better than expected..!" you said, with a bit of a smile. "I guess I've suppressed her temporarily... I don't intend to do that a lot, but I think just to get used to this body, it's kind of helpful."

Jane smiled at you, with a bit of a mischievous look in her eyes. "How precisely would you like to get used to it? I'm very happy to share Jane for anything you need right now."
