First Morning At The Cabin

I awoke the next morning and rubbed my face. I heard the familiar sound of birds chirping which was a much welcome change to the sounds of people in the city. I reached over but Felicia was gone. I sat up and noticed the room was a little different. My pack sat in the corner beside the bedside table with my books on top of the table along with a change of clothes. I wasn't sure if Felicia had done it last night or this morning but it made the place kind of feel like home.

I headed out scouting south. I brought my bow and axe along just in case I ran into a deer or something worst. I reached a large clearing where I found a mountain lake, or a tarn as some called it, at the top of the hill that feed the stream and pond below.

I even saw an old abandon watch tower. It had to be from the war with the elves to be out here. I climbed up and marveled at the view. I could see the city from here here to the east and the fertile fields around it. The bay to the south east. I even had a view of Hunters Rest to the north west which was probably the route this tower was meant to watch.

I headed west next following another stream from the tarn which I imagined ran toward the river. I guess this was the southern border of the property. The ground here had less of a incline then the side I had came up meaning this was my ideal spot for hunting. Unless I wanted to hike my way up and down the steep side with a deer or whatever on my back. I picked several plants along the way knowing Halley could use them.

The area had several boulders and large trees that could provide excellent cover and I saw all sorts of tracks of animals that had come to drink from the stream. I saw a drop off ahead as the water ran down a small water fall. I went around and heard the sound of someone humming. I came around to see a lovely woman bathing in the pond under the small waterfall. I couldn't tell if she was a really tall half goblin or a short orc. “I just bought the cabin up the hill.” I pointed.

"Ah, I heard that Thomas had sold it. He could have made a lot more if he had waited but he wanted to join the war. Guess your the one to profit off of it now." She smiled as she glanced over.

"How so?"

"Maybe no time soon but once the fort is built people will be able to build houses and businesses behind the safety of its walls. There isn't a lot of land to build on along the road but there is some which you can sell off a bit at a time and still have your hunting grounds. I might even be interested in being the first person to buy from you if your willing."

"Thinking of settling down here, What about the competition?" I asked wondering about all the other whores in town.

"Soon the soldiers will head north towards war and the whores will follow the men, its what they do. I made a ball knot in one end and tossed it over a tree branch and made a slip not pulling it snug. I moved to the other end of the rope and did the same. The girls got back just in time to help pull it and raise the tent but leaving some slack in it before we tied it to the tree. Next we moved out the sides and held it down with the rocks from the garden. We pulled the outside corners in and fastened them together to make the front and back side doors. Delilah could go back later and stitch up the upper section to leave just enough room to come in and out. Next I made stakes to keep it secure and lash it down so it could hold up against the wind then dug a small ditch to either side to catch rain water.

"It's so big." Selena said as she walked through and then hugged me. "Thank you."

"Your very welcome." I smiled. We gathered by the fire and ate the fish and I practiced the spell Delilah had used to sew with on sticks. Lifting them up and then dropping them in the fire. I wasn't about to learn how to sow but every spell might have other uses as I had found out before.

After dinner we headed home. I taught Felicia some letters and how to write her name. She didn't ask about having sex again though I figured it would be a few days before she was ready to do it again. I instead did some reading learning a few new spells such as how to levitate an object in my hand and a few others that might come in handy but I would have to find a use for them.
