Chapter 476 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Find the head master's office.

You wander past students scrambling to get to their classes. You two, however, are skipping this time. You play hooky with Eva and begin a hunt for Lady Sulta's office. It has to be around somewhere. You walk down long hallways, make a few turns, and you finally arrive at a room labelled, "Headmaster," over a glass window above the doorknob.

I'm not going to spend all day just going to class. What a terrible time. I'm an adventurer now, not a student. You knock on the door.

You hear a voice respond with, "Come in," though it doesn't sound like Sulta. You turn the knob and step inside, and it gently shuts behind you. The room itself is small, with a desk in front of a shelf of books, and a few chairs opposite of that. There's a woman sitting on an office chair behind said desk, and you were right. It isn't Lady Sulta at all. She closes a small book and places it in a drawer beneath the desktop.

Professor Davella, the redheaded elf, turns to you with an affectionate smile. "What is it I can do for you today? Should you not be in class?"

Why is she the headmaster? That doesn't make any sense. Isn't she just like... an enchantment teacher?

"We're looking for Ms. Sulta," you explain. "Vazeela Sulta."

Her smile slowly falls. "I am afraid I do not know that name."

That makes no sense. Malakae knew the Ostowl twins still. There has to be some kind of consistent logic to this madness. Does Lady Sulta have something to do with what's going on?

"Please sit down," she continues. "Something is bothering you."

You and Eva sit. It's your rabbit companion that speaks up next.

"Don't you remember us?!" she blurts out.

"Of course I do," replies the headmaster. "Mr. Warren and Ms. Beela. I have quite a good memory if I do say so myself. You are students here at Redbloom High, just like everybody else."

"There's just something... weird going on."

We just gotta push with anything we have. "Yeah. A girl's skirt suddenly flew up in math class today. There aren't any creepy ghost stories in this school, right?"

Davella lets out a sigh. "I am aware of certain strange happenings as of late. I have a feeling it may be from a prankster of some sort. Though if you do find out anything, I would be overjoyed to know. I imagine it is not much of anything at all, but you can never be too careful. One moment." She scribbles something on two pieces of paper and pushes herself up from her chair before walking around her desk to hand them over. "I give you permission to come see me if you do find anything strange, even in the middle of class."

You take the permission slip. Interesting. So she must know of more stuff than she lets on.

"Now I have much work to do," she adds. "Please return to your classes and do not worry."

"But--" Eva starts to say, though she has no idea what else to bring up.

"All right. Let's go then," you say as you stand up from your seat as well. Eva joins you.

Though as you do, you slowly turn a gaze back.

I know this is fake. Eva knows it's fake. I don't know if we're really on Earth, but I've already had about enough. Even if this is some weird alternate universe, why should I care? I'm tired of just watching and going along for the ride. This could be serious. I've fought krakens, harpies, devils, and more. I'm not going to be scared of school. And I'm not going to be scared of her. There is no magic here. And I swear if Davella is just lying to me, I'm going to be pissed.

What do you do?
