Chapter 477 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Interrogate Davella.

Before you leave, you turn right back. You focus your eyes directly on the elf, and you speak with a strong, forceful voice. There's a fire burning in your eyes. You've had enough. A lot of people have knocked you around, but you always bounce back. You're not about to make an exception, especially if you and Eva's lives are potentially in danger.

"Hey, Ms. Davella. I've got another question," you speak.

She's taken aback. "And what is it?" she asks.

"What are you doing?" Eva whispers.

"What country are we in?" is your question. You stare daggers at her.

Davella looks at you strangely for a moment. "What a strange question. You should certainly know where you live. Now please, return to your classes. This is most irregular behav--"

"You don't know where we are either."

"You are being ridiculous, Mr. Warren. It is ah... Japan."

There's a moment of silence between the two of you. The way she answered was strange. She seems relieved as well when you don't question her response. However, you aren't finished yet.

"Then what's the capital of the United States of America?"

"Return now, or I will contact your parents."

"Oh yeah? And who are my parents?!"

You can see her composure fade for only a brief moment.

In that moment, you race behind her desk, yank open the drawer, and pull out the book she was writing. You see a fire behind her gaze now, and she runs around to catch you. However, Eva throws herself into the professor's body and tackles her against the wall with a thud.

"Let go of me, you rabbit!" Davella shouts. Her composure is disappearing quickly.

You flip rapidly through the book. "Trapped... Plan failed... Wild sprite on the loose?" You slam the book against the desk. "What the fuck is going on, Davella? What happened to Lady Sulta? You have a lot of explaining to do. And what's wrong? You can't use your magic either? It looks like the ball's in our court then."

"So that's why you wanted us to report to you immediately if we found something weird," Eva says--arms still wrapped around the professor's waist. "You need help as much as we do. But then how could she be the villain?"

You look through the book some more. "The wild sprite."

Professor Davella throws Eva off and backs up against the corner of the room. "Listen. I do not know how you were able to retain your memories, but you will help me find that wild sprite on the loose. Trust me or not, we are trapped in here together until we are able."

Your eyes twitch as you continue to read. "It was all a massive enchantment ritual... but it went all wrong. You put the entire academy to sleep, Davella, didn't you? But now you're asleep too. And by how you were reacting, you don't know a single thing about this world."

"And how do you?!" she yells.

She has no idea. If she's really behind this, then how does her dream involve things from Earth? She fits into the headmaster role very well, yet doesn't seem to know the names of any locations. It's like she has knowledge of Earth, though only the most minimal amount.

"If we're going to help you, you're going to have to stop lying to us," you say. "Tell us everything."

"I can find my own way out without you," she replies.

"Not if we try to stop you."

"The people here are on my side. They believe I really am a headmaster."

We need to get out, and she's the only one that knows how. If we don't help her and she finds her own way out, we might stay trapped. But if we do help her, we can get out together and then turn her into Lady Sulta on the other side.

"Then fine. We'll help you," you say. "If we find the wild sprite, we'll let you know right away."

"Are you sure?" Eva asks.

You nod. "It's the only way. I don't like it either, and I don't know why you did what you did, but we have little choice."

Professor Davella smiles. "That is correct. Go then. Leave me. You have made a mess of my office." She stomps forward and swipes the book from your hand. "And when we escape, we will meet again one day."

We won't give you the chance to flee.

The two of you proceed through the tension thick enough to be cut, and open up her office door to return to the hallway. The world seems to react properly, at least so far, and you don't want to be taken away to jail for **** either. There is too much that's still uncertain. However, it seems like Davella doesn't know your connection to the wild sprite. That's your trump card. If you can find that sprite, you might be able to completely foil her plans.

It's a race now. You need to continue going to school for the time being, all while hunting this sprite. You must catch it before Davella, or everything is lost.

You both glance at your schedules in unison.

"Gym," Eva says. "My least favourite class."

"We take that together? Isn't that usually separate?" You sigh and stare at the paper for a long moment.

My only guess is Davella wants something from the academy, or from Lady Sulta. While we hunt the sprite, we better keep our ears open to any news of her existing in this dream. She could be in danger.

Eva gently squeezes your hand.

"Hey. It's all right," you say. "We'll figure it out."

I hope.
