Fight

The boarbatusks were only a couple yards away from her stuff. If she was going to do something, it was now or never. Ruby shook her head, her hands clenching. She made her decision, she would fight. Knowing that she didn’t stand a chance without her weapon, Ruby knew what she had to do. Without a doubt, the moment she made a noise, the boarbatusks would charge in her direction. This all came down to who got to her stuff first. Clenching her hands and getting in a stance, ready to dash, Ruby called forth the full **** of her semblance, all caution thrown to the wind. Seemingly transforming into a flurry of rose pedals, she moved at sonic speeds toward Crescent Rose. The boarbatusks’ ears twitched, lifting their heads and charging toward the sound.

Ruby’s flurry of rose pedals stopped as suddenly as it began in front of Crescent Rose. The sudden stop stirred up a tempest that blew past her, snagging up all the rose pedals that came with her and any other loose items with it. In one swift motion, Ruby uses her foot to spring Crescent Rose into the air in scythe form, where her slippery hands awaited to receive it. Screaming out a battle cry, she charged at the Grimm, nearly slipping into a split when she stopped to swing at the first boarbatusk in front of her. She let out a panicked “Uh oh,” as she missed. Instinctively, she used her semblance, stirring up another tempest, to evade the Grimm’s counterattack. Putting some distance between them and her, Ruby tried her weapon’s sniper mode, taking shot at the nearest one. When she pulled the trigger, the recoil paired with her wet feet on newly damp grass launched her backwards a few feet, her wet hands having trouble keeping her grip on the weapon. The shot, however, struck true, piercing straight through the boarbatusk’s skull.

One of the remaining boarbatusks charged her, trying to take advantage of her unprepared status, while the other hung back. Hurriedly, Ruby used her semblance again to escape, trying to distance herself as much as she could from the two Grimm, causing another tempest. This time, though, when her feet touched down, she did slip, falling right on her butt, yet she still kept an eye on both Grimm. The one that hung back before was already charging her. Hurriedly, Ruby tried to pull herself to her feet, keeping as strong of a grip as she could on her weapon. She managed to get her bearings just in time, using her semblance to dodge at the last moment, dashing as far away as she could. The moment she stopped and turned to check the whereabouts of the Grimm, she had to use her semblance again. The other boarbatusk had already been charging her. Tempest after tempest struck the clearing as Ruby broke into her semblance again and again as soon as she broke out of it. Whenever she dodged away from one boarbatusks, the other charged her before she even stopped running. Breaking out of her semblance huffing and puffing, Ruby knew she needed a new plan. She was getting nowhere and at the rate things were going, she would exhaust herself and her aura before long and become a sitting duck for these Grimm. But what could she do to change the tide of the battle? She took in the sight in front of her, one boarbatusk charging her, nearly upon her, and the other hanging back and waiting to charge to her next location. How could she get distance from both of these Grimm so she could take one of them out? Catching the shattered moon’s reflection off the boarbatusk’s tusk, Ruby got an idea. It was a risky, hairbrained idea, but if it worked, it would be worth it. Ruby loosened her stance, relaxing her legs, and tried to suppress the twinge of fear that welled up in her gut. The boarbatusk in front of her was only a couple steps away, preparing to ram her with its tusks. At the last moment, Ruby blocked the tusks with the side of Crescent Rose, the **** from the charge launching her backwards. In midair, Ruby deftly slid Crescent Rose in front of her, aimed and fired in one fluid motion. She saw the bullet pierce the skull of the nearby boarbatusk, ending it, before the recoil sent her tumbling painfully backwards into the woods around the clearing, only to be stopped by her back slamming into a tree. Ruby winced slightly. She felt her aura start to fizzle around her, warning her of its low state. Ahead of her, the last remaining boarbatusk dragged its hoof on the ground before starting its charge. Ruby tried to catch her breath as she lined up her shot, paused a moment, and then fired. The shot drove straight through the beast’s eye, dissolving it into a mist of black dust.

With that taken care of, Ruby dropped her weapon onto her lap and her arms by her sides. She rests her eyes for a few moments, her breasts rising and falling with her haggard breathing. Her skin glistened with sweat.

“Come on,” Ruby whined. She finally got to bathe after so long, and she only got to enjoy being clean for a few minutes… She was hoping it would’ve lasted longer. Maybe she should take another quick dip before heading back? She shook her head. I probably shouldn’t, Ruby thought to herself. After all, who knows how long it will be before more Grimm wander into the area? It would be for the best if she just got dressed, grabbed the canteens and headed back to camp. Ruby pulled herself to her feet and made her way back into the clearing with a tired sigh.
