Which gender?
Female
In modern society Women are vastly outnumbered by Men. Even in big cities like New York, Hong Kong, and London with populations of millions of men, you might only find a couple thousand women. In this society there is no such thing as marriage, a woman may have a dozen or so men she would live with in her daily life like husbands. In this alternate world women produce much faster and like dogs and cats they have liters. Its much rarer for a woman to have just one child than for one to have four. Many take years between each pregnancy, but in their lifetime they may have over a hundred kids. This sadly causes many kids to barely know their mothers, if at all.
Women are cared for in every possible way, but to assure their saftey they aren't allowed to have dangerous jobs (if they want a job in the first place.)

In an alternate time line Human Evolution took a detour. Under some selective pressure the ratio of the two genders became one sided. Although humans still have modern advancements and population, one gender is considered very precious for reproduction. _______________________________ Edit* I left the premise open so other writers could add what they want. I mostly just wrote this premise because I thought it was an interesting setting for the story I want to make. I am an amateur writer so please don't expect great or interesting writing from me. Though I will try to get better, this is ultimately a very small hobby I am trying out. I initially said this was going to be Enf/Enm since thats what I mostly read, but as I was writing the first few chapters and a certain comment I realized that that was only going to be a small part of it. For those that saw that and were disappointed, I'm sorry I didn't mean to mislead.
