Fantasizing and planning (no encounter)

Both the middle daughter and the daughter of another neighbor had been spending more time outside recently. From his bedroom window, John could see part of the driveway where the basketball hoop shook, as well as the large swinging bench on the other neighbor's porch. He'd often fantasized about walking over to say hello and invited to take their conversation to the bedroom.

He'd thought about the idea so much that he started to put together a plan for introducing himself in as little of an awkward way as possible. Because, hey, you never know, right?

Unfortunately, he didn't even know their names. Striking up a conversation would have to happen organically by running into them at a store, or by some unusual happenstance like a bad shot sending the basketball into his bedroom window. The last thing he wanted to do was just be totally creepy and walk up to them out of the blue.

He'd come up with a few ideas that seemed to be the most likely to work, but he'd have to put one of them into action at the right time.
